I just can't resist answering a question when I know the answer. I probably should learn to let others have a chance but what the hell. What San Francisco hard rock group had one solitary hit, in 1968, with a psychedelic remake of a Eddie Cochran hit from the 1950's?

I'm going to take a guess and say Sopwith Camel.

I'm still kicking myself for missing it the first time. But I don't think of Blue Cheer as an S.F. band. Musically, they certainly didn't fit in with that particular scene.
Next Q:
What blues-rock band took its name from a game of Scrabble?

Looks like it's clue time.
Three of the four founding members of this group were also members of Savoy Brown.

OM I can confirm you answer of Foghat is correct. I don't think HWW would mind us keeping the game going if you want to post the next question.

Sorry it's taken me so long to get back. Work was unusually busy.
Yes, OM, you are correct: It's Foghat. The story is that lead singer Lonesome Dave Peverett was playing Scrabble when he looked down at his tile holder and saw those letters. Voila! A band was born.
Your turn.

Righto.
Name two hit songs written by Graham Gouldman before he formed 10CC.

Also "For Your Love" by The Yardbirds, "Look Through Any Window" by The Hollies and "No Milk Today" by Herman's Hermits.
Over to you, HWW.

Over to me.
What act holds the distinction of being produced by both Todd Rundgren and Frank Zappa?

Grand Funk. Rundgren produced their hit-making LPs, which included "We're An American Band" and "The Loco-Motion." Zappa produced their final album before they split in 1976.

Operating under the assumption that Grand Funk was indeed what OM was looking for, I'm going to go ahead and post the next question:
"If this group makes it I shall have to commit suicide" was the opening line of a Rolling Stone album review. To what heavy metal band was it referring?

Grand Funk is indeed the answer. Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier, but I had a little system trouble.
I believe the answer to your question is Uriah Heep.
