OK.

(If this one somehow got asked before I got here, or on the Jolly Roger board, let me know and I'll come up with something new.)

Who played guitar for Genesis in between Anthony Phillips and Steve Hackett?

This is wracking the old brain a bit but I believe it was Mick somebody who filled in for a wee while before Hackett arrived. Don't know any more apart from that. He certainly doesn't appear on vinyl, as far as I know. My flatmate at uni was a big Genesis fan, I only absorbed them through osmosis, and then only anything before Gabriel left. Still love Trespass though, its one of my favourite albums of all time!

They were rehearsing as a four-piece with Rutherford taking guitar duties immediately before Hackett joined, but I can't remember the name of the other guy who worked with them for a couple of months after Phillips left. I know he's actually responsible for a significant part of the music to "The Musical Box", though wasn't credited as such.

My lack of knowledge of this was bothering me, so I looked it up.

The answer is Mick Barnard.

And this is post 1000 for me.

Yes, Lightning Lad got it.

The question was, what was the original working title of The Guess Who's "Clap For the Wolfman" and who was the song originally about? The answer: "Clap For Napoleon" -- Napoleon being the band's less-than-flattering nickname for lead singer Burton Cummings.

LL, it's still your turn.

Finally remembered what my last question was. I don't think we ever got the answer so here goes again.

What bands were originally known by the following names:

1. Sharp Young Men?
2. The Sex Maggots?
3. Sweet Children?
4. Majesty?
5. The Golliwogs?

Actually only one of the bands listed would be considered prog rock. There is a classic rock band, a hard rock/alternative band, and two alt/rock bands.

I'll try the obvious and say that the Sex Maggots became the Sex Pistols.

As for the others... confused

Here's where the question stands:

What bands were originally known by the following names:

1. Sharp Young Men?
2. The Sex Maggots: The Goo Goo Dolls (Sonnie B)
3. Sweet Children: Green Day (Sonnie B)
4. Majesty?
5. The Golliwogs: Creedence Clearwater Revival (HWW)

Any more guesses? How about a hint. One of the remaining two bands has a fan of sorts among us. Someone here is using a quote from one of their songs in his signature line. And the remaining band was an answer to one of my previous questions (asked over at TnT's place).

Sharp Young Men became Faith No Man, who became Faith No More.

Way to go HWW! POV is actually using a quote in his sig line from them right now. I also mentioned them as one of the concerts I've attended.

So now we have a two way tie. Two answers for HWW and two for Sonnie B. Whoever gets the name for Majesty takes the next question.

I'm going to take a guess that Majesty became ... Black Sabbath?

Nope. Majesty is the one prog rock group on the list. And they were an answer to one of my previous questions about concept albums.
