If there are going to be cliques again in the Legion, who's in what? (Of course, we don't know if their personalities will have changed substantially from what we've known.)
The three founders (assuming three!) will probably hang out together.
At this point, I'm betting Brainiac will be an outsider.
As for the others...???

The Brute Squad. All the jock types will hang out drinking Silverale and swapping old sports stories. Brin, Jo, Drake, Garth, Thom, Gim and hopefully Kent...maybe even James Cullen?

I'm a legion clique master (don't get excited ladies read it again slowly). The Legion cliques have always been complicated with any particular one member being part of a number of them. I don't think Brainy will be an outsider for long. have a feeling some members will get some major panel time...Ultra Boy, Jeckie (Projecta), Brainy, and Shadow Lass possibly. I also have a gut feeling lovers will be different in this series. Cliques I see are : Founders, major players (mentioned above), buddies (Star Boy, Sun Boy, Cham, Karate Kid), the girls (Violet, Tinya, Ayla). Where would Element Lad fit? Kinda excited. Jorge

It'd be a cool twist to see Jan mourning his dead lover, Lyle.

I'd prefer that Jan be mourning the fact that Lyle has married Brainy

I can see Tinya as a 'leader' among the girls, with Luornu being buddy buddy with her, and Vi a bit jealous--just like it was hinted at in the late Levitz/TMK era. Ayla would probably pal around with them too, but she always seems like a bit more of a tom-boy.
If Tinya and Jo are together, I can also see a lot of resentment coming from other Legionnaires too.

Well cliques in high-school usually tend to form along lines of popularity, looks, athleticism, intelligence and I suppose race. Might not those be the criteria for cliques in the new legion?

Jan, Lyle, Val and Andy can be the "Fabulous" clique.

I wouldn't say a "load" of them... maybe a half dozen or so. That's a respectable amount, I think

I liked how Levitz had little cliques preboot, but they seemed based more on personality differences. For the cliques to be based along some of the lines listed above kinda goes against the basic notion of the Legion imo.

Drake, I agree that cliques formed along those lines are not particularly nice or desirable. However, it does seem to happen more often than not. Remember, these are teenagers. While some may have achieved a degree of enlightenment, most teenagers are still pretty self-centered. I think that's more a condition of youth, independent of the century they exist in.

Studies have shown that a group needs to have a least 15 members before cliques begin to naturally form. WIth only 18 members to start with, I would not expect there to be that many cliques. Maybe two or three, and probably skewed to who joined with who more than anything else at this point.
What will be interesting is to watch the transition. From X Kid, Y Boy, and Z Lass hang out together becasue they all joined around the same time to Z Lass now hangs with A Lad because they both come from wealthy families, Y Boy hangs with B Kid becasue they both like sports and cars, and X Kid now hangs with C Boy becasue they are both poofers.

Duke, I agree with that. The transition should be interesting, and will make for some very good scenes and subplots.
The fact that they'll be on missions together will also be a factor--say, if Cos saves Ayla's life or Gim and Jo go through a battle where they don't think they'll make it and do. Both of those situations could lead to a major bond developing b/t two people, and close friends of these Legoinnaires that haven't gone through the same stuff may feel left out after.

Cobie,
VERY interesting idea. I had not thought ot that. It would make for very interesting interpersonnel development.
And what if that natural bond devlopes between a few members who face a crisis together, but then they drift apart as they begin to realize that was about the only thing they really had in common? That woul dbe interesting to watch unfold.
It is interesting that the Brin/Ayla split is really the only the only break-up (hetero/homo/love/or platonic) that we have ever seen.
In a realistic group of teens & young adults, you'd think they be hopping back and forth amongst each other all the time.

I think I'd like to see some hopping back and forth too. Break-ups would only be natural, as would love-triangles, and former lovers having bad break-ups, drifting apart and then one day coming back together as close friends.
I think that if they ever do swith up some of the traditional relationships, they should do it early on too--it'd be much more pleasing for me to see Mon and Shady date other people and then wind up together than start together and drift apart. The only one relationship that I'll be rooting for is Tinya and Jo, which is purely a personnel favorite.
I also want my man Cos to spread the love to Ayla and Luornu!

Yeah not sure if I want the classic relationships to change. Garth & Imra: I rather not but I can see this happening. They end up with different people?! Jo & Tinya: Please no. My fave couple as well. Mon & Shady: Again I rather they stick together but can see it going in other directions. Shady and Brainy for instance. Lyle & Jan: C'mon! Lets see it! Jorge

Put Jan together with Sean Erin or something. What is wrong with you people? You've got it all wrong!! Everyone knows that it's Lyle & Condo... ...as for Brainy, he's going to be the Science Advisor so it would be highly inapproriate for him to have a relationship with one of them... Now, Brainy and Rond would be rather interesting! As would Jan and Val (the mystic & the martial artist have much in common) or Val and Andy which leaves Jan...Cos?
"Hey Jim! Get Mon out of the Zone!! And...when do we get Condo back?"

Does two people doin' the nasty constitute a clique? I think I'm confused (not Live Wire's feelings towards Magno confused, but confused enough).
