Tomorrow I leave for a conference in Minneapolis. It will be first time in Minnesota. It will also leave only two US states that are completely or partially east of the Mississippi that I have not visited (or lived in, in the cases of Massachusetts, Florida and Michigan). One is Wisconsin. What is the other?

1. Alabama
2. Connecticut
3. Delaware
4. Georgia
5. Illinois
6. Indiana
7. Kentucky
8. Louisiana (like Minnesota, it straddles said river)
9. Maine
10. Maryland
11. Mississippi
12. New Hampshire
13. New Jersey
14. New York
15. North Carolina
16. Ohio
17. Pennsylvania
18. Rhode Island
19. South Carolina
20. Tennessee
21. Vermont
22. Virginia
23. West Virginia

I've driven through South Carolina once and was in a plane that stopped there once also.

I spent a lovely day in Maine once as well.

Minneapolis is lovely. I'm having a great time.

I've been to Ohio and Delaware.

On the other hand, even though I lived in Massachusetts twice, I never made it to Vermont.

Go, Krypton Kid!

I think I sent Krypton Kid a PM on this a while ago. So I'm going on with a new question.

As a kid, which state did I really really want to visit?

1) Arizona to see the Grand Canyon.
2) California to see the giant redwood trees.
3) Florida to go to Disney World.
4) Hawaii because I loved the TV show Hawaii Five-0.
5) Kentucky because I loved the TV show Daniel Boone.
6) South Dakota to see Mount Rushmore.
7) Pennsylvania to see the Gettysburg battlefield.
8) Texas because I wanted to be a cowboy.

Oh, I'll go with the obvious and guess my adopted home state:

8) Texas because I wanted to be a cowboy.

Wow, this is a difficult one...

5) Kentucky because I loved the TV show Daniel Boone.

Not too difficult for you Novelty.

I did indeed really really wanted to go to Kentucky because I loved the Daniel Boone show (and history in general) and Daniel Boone settled Kentucky.

Daniel Boone was a man. Yes a big man.
With an eye like an eagle and as tall as a mountain was he.
Daniel Boone was a man. Yes a big man.
He was brave, he was fearless and as tough as a mighty oak tree.

From the coonskin cap on the top of ol Dan to the heel of his rawhide shoe
The rippin'est roarin'est fightin'est man the frontier ever knew.

Daniel Boone was a man. Yes a big man.
And he fought for America to make all Americans free.
What a Boone. What a doer. What a dream comer truer was he.

Oh and a PS: The only other one I didn't just make up was Arizona to see the Grand Canyon. I also wanted to see Mount Rushmore, but did not know what state it was in when I was young.

My apologies for not coming up with something original. I'm just gonna plagarise Quislet's idea and run with it...

As a kid, which country did I really really want to visit?

a) England to see the Queen
b) France to see the Eiffel Tower
c) South Africa to see zebras
d) India to see an elephant
e) Australia to throw a boomerang
f) New Zeland to walk on a glacier
g) Switzerland to ski
h) Italy to eat authentic pizzas
i) Egypt to visit the pyramids
j) Turkey because it has a funny name
k) Japan to meet some samurais
l) Brazil to dance the samba
m) Holland to visit the windmills
n) Panama to see big ships
o) China to see the great wall
p) Denmark's Legoland

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

My guess: i) Egypt to visit the pyramids

Pyramids were scary and fulll of dead people, so nope.
Windmills and clogs and cheese didn't tempt me as a child
Zebras are interesting, and I'd like to go there now, but as a child, I didn't even know they were in South Africa.

Good guesses though...
