I like Scott's theory a lot too. Good thinking! My theory was that it might be , but I'm not sure why he would be against the Legion.

My theory was that it might be , but I'm not sure why he would be against the Legion. Thanks. Dav was my first thought but when I went back and looked, his was all light blues in colors with no gloves. But Klar was all earth-tones with the gloved hands. Not saying that Mark and Barry would be using colors as clues but it was what struck me this morning reading through the issue again. Especially after looking back at #16. (thankfully I have copies of all issues at work )

I hope all these theories are wrong:
1. The whole point of Dav Huntr in that one issue is that he was just a regular legionnaire like all the rest. Why undercut that?
2. The whole point of Klar is that he was just a normal civilian. Why undercut that?
2b. Klar's clothes were, for the 31st century, normal. Perhaps too normal. Shouldn't surprise us to see anyone else dressing like that.
3. This version of the Legion is very inclusive and very participatory. There's no need for the Substitutes, and therefore I don't think we have them.
4. We've had enough of Terror Firma for now. This is still a pretty young comic book, and it's better to introduce new factors into the world rather than keep revisiting the old ones over and over.
So I think and hope that it's someone we don't know about yet.

My initial reaction was that the cloaked guy was Dav - and we'd see a new Substitute Legion: the kids with powers, maybe a bit goofy powers, but no flight rings; supporting/sharing core group ideals, but edgier than the old Subs, and a different name. (It would also be a great entry point for Tenzil and Chuck, the other "silly power" guys.)
I really liked this Supergirl and appreciate Cosmic Boy's explanation of her history, which brings those of us who lost track of the Supergirl continuity up to date. She's a perfect bridge between the Legion and the adults: she is and acts like a teenager, but doesn't have the animosity and distrust regarding adults that the other Legionnaires have displayed. It may work both ways, if Officer T3pkar is any indication. She certainly looks beautiful, with that perfect hair!
The Dominators looked perfect, too! Perfectly creepy.
Shades of Robotica, ancient machines planning revolt? I hope that raid didn't mean the end of the robot uprising. What else is in the Undercity? And the Exile Dimension(s)? I love all the story layers that this series is building up.
One thing - ONE thing - I didn't like is what appears to be the new on-going joke: two things - claws, armaments, whatever - piercing Phantom Girl's phantom boobs. Just a  , not put out about it.

I think Seiss may become Echo. Take a look at Adventure #355 (Echo vs. Cosmic Man) and tell me if you don't agree.

I don't think the mention of fifty two has anything to do with the upcoming series. If it does it would be stupid. No one is going to be calling that year 52. They might call it the year without a Superman or something, but not 52.
I think it does go back to the Invasion mini series. The Dominators suffered a near total defeat durring that war, and I am sure that whenever dealing with humans again it would be a sore spot for them. I think 52 should turn out to be the Dominator year or something that Invasion took place. To try and tie it into 52 and actully call it 52 is very very lame.
The Dominators really made this issue for me. Some of the bits with Supergirl were good too. The rest was more of the same old same old. More stupid kids in the plaza, more Legionaries lipping of to the SP, ect, ect. I really want to see those stupids kids in the plaza wipped out just so Waid will quite writting about them.

Kono Juice has long been established as a popular drink in the Legion's time.
Kono, a Legionnaire during the 5YL period, apparently took her name from it.

I've heard, though, that the number 52 is important in 52-the-series for more reasons (reasons which are so far undisclosed) than just the number of weeks in a year. The Dominators may have just given us the first hint about what that's all about.

This was a GREAT issue! Mark and Barry are the master's of the small, teaser story at the beginning, this time the download of the Electrolord. These vignettes do a LOT to hang meat on the bones of the Legion's future world, and are packed with neato characterization too. Barry's art is just...sublime, that's the only word for it. He has made the Legion his own in a way no artist has done since Giffen. The portrayal of Supergirl is well, super. I think Waid knows how to script Kryptonian powers as well as anyone. The sub-sonic whistle was clever, cute, a fun nod to the silver age, AND a convincing way to deal with Seiss's indigestion problem. The Dominators, woo-hoo! They're back and creepier than ever. I always thought the "Invasion" cross-over was fantastic storytelling, a cross-over worthy of the hoopla, and too-often overlooked in the years since. Maybe because the 5YL repurcussions were too dire? Anyway, it's great to have the old disk-heads back. Matthew E is clearly right -- "52" must have some meaning beyond the weeks in a year. And Waid is one of the principal scripters. Seems like the next year is going to very exciting, indeed.
...but you don't have a moment where you're sitting there staring at a table full of twenty-five characters with little name signs that say, "Hi, my superpower is confusing you!"

Ask The Editors #22: WHAT'S IN A NAME? Looking forward very much to "52", but that title needs to go. It's too much like "24", the TV series. How about calling the book...(drum roll, please) DC UNIVERSE! Simple, to the point. From what I've read this "52" book is going to encompass pretty much the entire DC universe, so why not call the darn thing DC UNIVERSE? — Jeff D. Not a bad idea, Jeff. DC UNIVERSE is a catchy title, and we actually thought about it at one point along with a few others like YEAR ONE, AFTER CRISIS, and "Greg, Mark, Grant and Geoff's Super Picnic Fun Romp." 52 stuck, though, because it's not just the number of weeks in the year. It's an important number and there are specific reasons we chose it as a name for the project. You'll start to find out why in May, so I hope to see you there. — Stephen Wacker, Editor, 52

Great issue! I really enjoyed the entire issue and the way the story moved.
Dominators! My favorite alien race in any comic! I'm glad to see them here and hope they really are in 52.
Phantom Girl with dialogue and doing stuff! Cool! In fact, lots of Legionnaires were talking it up and doing stuff this issue. I liked that. Lots of cool tidbits as well (Brin has Dirk's ring, etc.)
I'm really enjoying Supergirl being in the 31st century.

Wow, that was kinda cool seeing the Dominators. I am glad the story is kinda speeding up...I still miss Dream Girl and Sun Boy, though. <choke>

Cos needs a slap cross the face to make him be quiet... I can tell he's one of those inspirational leaders who just happens to love the sound of his own voice.
Maybe Star Boy could have made the tongue so heavy he couldn't talk.

I received this issue the same day I got the Justice League/Legion cartoon in the mail from Lighting Lad (thanks, LL!) and was struck by the similarities. In both stories, Supergirl is mentioned to have vanished one day and never heard from in the 21st century again. In the cartoon, it was because she relocated to the 31st century permanently. I seriously doubt that's going to be the case in the book, but I personally would love it. It would give Supergirl a chance to shine away from Superman and give her her rightful place in the Leigon, which she was robbed of in the silver age, because of her few appearances.

Perhaps involving the Royal Flush Gang... and maybe the Joker (who, after all, is supposed to be a major player in Infinite Crisis #7. But I guess we'll find out about that in a couple of days).
