Doesn't "not quite" suggest YK might be on the right track? Maybe Cargg exists in three dimensions with one version of a person in each dimension. Then they can combine into one and manifest in any of the three dimensions. (That is, they merge out of their dimensions into, say Dimension 1. Then they can all manifest in D1.)

I'm glad all 3 Luornus wear the same color again, but I'm hoping it's going to be purple and not black. I'm hoping that's just a coloring glitch. Also hoping her eyes all match this time around. The coloring thing made her useless as an Espionage Squad member. All of her bodies have to be identical to be effective as spies.

I never thought of it that way, Jim, but you're right. Lu will be much better off if she's completely identical. At most, we should probably only see slight variations in personality, but nothing too dramatic.

What - they don't have contact lenses or the capability to make them in the 31st Century?

What's the point of giving them different colored eyes if you're just going to have them put in contact lenses to make them appear the same?

I hope that she'll keep her 3 body and that there are not sudden death as the traditional version!

To show that there are real differences between the three. And, if it ever became necessary to hide which is which for a short period of time, there's an easy way to pull it off in a non-contrived way.

I have never had any love for the character but im still in wait and see mode for the entire series.

Here is my guess - Triplicate Girl won't be exact, equal duplicates in look/heart and mind as she was pre-boot. And she won't have 3 distinctive personalities as in post-boot either. There will be only one, distinct Luornu in the new version - the other two are android-type duplicates of the original. They can be her eyes and ears when separated - all info observed would be communicated automatically to the main Lu. Also, she will be able to re-integrate with her other bodies, even at great distances, - choosing which body to re-integrate with. So she will also have a mild form of teleportation abilities. She will also be able to split off into only two if she so chooses.

My take on the new Lu is that she's not so much splitting into three separate and distinct forms as she is violating the laws of physics as we know them by being one corporeal entity occupying three distinct "moments" in the space-time continuum simultaneously. There is no distinct personality or thought -- just one all-encompassing "group mind" that sees/hears/feels/thinks in three phases at once (integrating the sensations telepathically just as a fly integrates the images from its compound eye into one "coherent" impresion of its surroundings.)

I agree with the Man From Cargg that she should be able to reintegrate across distances, with the other bodies simply phasing out of the time-space continuum to join the chosen body at its locastion.

Maybe she's just triplets and two of them hide behind furniture when no one's looking.

Stargazer and Knightsfyre, those are both excellent ideas! I would love to see either of them.

Or maybe she's just one person who hauls around two mannequins that are dressed like her.

She could detach their appendages and beat people with them a la Arm-fall-off Boy.

I have a question, say each Lu has a different personality and the legion wanted the one particular personality to be leader. Would that be possible??? Wouldn't the other two get pee-d off!

If Lu did become leader, would each third serve four a four-month term?

What if Luornu in this reality has the ability to merge with/summon/transport her counterparts from other realities? Lu One could be the part of Triplicate Girl killed by Computo in Adventure... Lu Two could be Purple pulled from the 'white-out' moment in the Titans crossover... Lu Three would be this new reality's Durgo Damsel.

I say embrace the history... don't shove it under a rock and act ashamed of it. If all these 'new' fans can't bother to learn about the characters, the setting and the history, they won't be around long anyway. Something else else else new and shiny'll show up around the next corner and lure them away.

It's starting to look like Jeanette Khan was ahead of the curve, isn't it?

Perhaps Lu is able to project holograms or illusions of herself (I hope that's not a taken idea, I don't have time to read page one, sigh).

I've always liked Lu, especially post boot and in the Adventure issues.
I'm certainly open to seeing what Waid and Kitson have in mind.


candlelight/Shady

Your post got me thinking about solid-light holograms, candlelight -- but that seems more like a new extension or manifestation of Sun Boy's light/heat projection ability.

Personally, I'd love to see each of the Legionnaires use their abilities in ways they haven't before -- maybe Shady can use darkness and shadows to teleport, or Garth can control electricity as well as project it, etc.

Shadow-teleporting would just be copying Psylocke. And Garth could already do that.

I'd forgotten about that particular ability of Garth's when I posted (probably because the writers usually didn't use it).

As for Shadow Lass emulating Psylocke, I think it would actually be a case of Shady copying Psylocke, who copied Silhouette of the New Warriors, who copied Obsidian of Infinity Inc., who kinda copied Darkstar of the Soviet-Super-Soldiers, who kinda copied Shadow Lass in the first place. So the circle is closed.

I'm just using those as examples -- I would just hope that Waid and co. choose to explore the nature and potential of the character's abilities beyond the basic "super-power in 10 words or less" syndrome the chatracters have suffered at times before.

Anyway, what say we get back to the Triplicate Girl topic ,eh?

perhaps when she splits, and the trio move apart, she can choose which triplicate is the centre of reintegration ... just a thought.
