It is not Bouncing Boy. Hint: even if Bouncing Boy had been a Legion member in the story mentioned above, he would still not be the answer.

Since it was Saturn Girl who assembled the Legion of Super-Pets, does she (born in the future) get credit for defeating, in the Legion's time-period, the Brain-Globes of Rambat?

Also, in the first Star Boy story, Star Boy recruits Superboy to help him defeat a villain who escaped into some copper pipes, but IIRC, I think that Star Boy himself nabbed that villain's accomplice.

Well, with Saturn Girl it depends on your point of view I guess, but I wasn't thinking of her. The situation I had in mind involved a full fledged LSH member actually using his or her powers to directly stop / defeat / capture some bad guys. Another hint is that the bad guys aren't really ever shown or developed beyond one this one panel appearance, but they are clearly bad guys.

As for Star Boy, he captures that crook off-screen and in the 20th century, which contradicts the conditions of the question.

Also, the Brain Globes of Rambat were defeated in the 20th century, not in the future.

Really? I could swear Saturn Girl brought the Super-Pets to the future to fight the Brain Globes, and that Star Boy brought Superboy to the future to capture the crooks. But I haven't looked at the Archives in quite a while.

Kranyak, from ADV 302?

In the Star Boy story the villain Thom captures is in the 20th century but the one Clark captures in the 30th.

Could it be Colossal Boy as in Adventure 301 here is a panel showing him growing to battle a giant on the planet Grykk?

Tinya busting into a gang's hide-out in ADV #300?

I'll go with the founders disabling the spaceship of the nameless crooks on the splash page of Adv. #247.

I hadn't thought of the splash page of #247, which is an interesting thought, since I didn't specify it had to actually be in a story.

Tinya' busting into the gang's hideout was in #301, one panel after the Colossal Boy panel that stuorstew references above.

I had actually not noticed either the Colossal Boy or the Tinya panel when I asked the question. I guess you could technically argue that we don't actually see either of them defeating their foe in the panel mentioned, but it's all pretty close and debatable.

My answer was Lightning Lad disabling a ship with crooks in it later on in #301.

I think both stuorstew and Eryk Davis Ester gave answers that could be considered valid, so I'll hand it over to which ever of them wants to take it.

Yay! I got one right (sort of!)

However as Erik Davis Ester's issue was earlier than mine I am happy to stand aside and let him take the next go.

I'm actually going to re-ask Xben's question, but with a few more stipulations thrown in:

Not including adult Legion stories, when was the first time that we ever saw an active duty LSH member who was born in the future fighting an actual named villain or villains who were also from the future, and actually defeating them in the future.

I'll actually have to look up the answer myself, but I'm curious as to what it is (though I have a suspiscion).

I don't know the answer, but after all the mix-ups, I had the same question in my mind.

I was thinking Sun Boy, but he wasn't an active member at the time. (Don't remember the crooks name, anyway.)

I guess that would have to be Dr. Landro and Meglaro in ADV # 303, wouldn't it?

Well, I suppose it depends on who you give credit to for the "defeat" of Landro and Meglaro. They're actually captured by Superboy (who is not from the future), though it's Brainy's ruse that leads to their capture, and Brainy is certainly credited with it at the end of the story.

If I'd specified "captured" rather than "defeated", the correct answer would, I beleive, be Roxxas, who was my original hunch.

Go ahead and take it, cmk.

Landro and Meglaro made another appearance that chronologcally precedes their capture in Adventure Comics # 303. Who was the hero that foiled their plans on that occasion?

Remember that story, always thought it showed the Bierbaums did shoddy research as Meglaro/Landro allied together at that point in time clearly made no sense continuity-wise. Always felt Molock, Tharok, Magpie, or even Benn Pares would have fit better...

Really? What was said about them that would make us think they had not been together for a while?

That said, you've got the writers correct - but who was the hero?

The tale from Secret Origins #42 ends with both villlains, Meglaro and Landro, taken into custody by the Science Police. Yet, "later" in Adventure #303, it is depicted that Meglaro, after attempting to conquer the Earth by himself, has been in a prolonged suspended state of sleep, while the esteemed Doctor Landro is shown as the top specialist in his field, (that of fourth-dimensional surgery) with a well-established thriving practice. Had the Bierbaums revised their plot slightly so that Tinya covertly caused Meglaro's comotose condition, thwarting his attack, and have a craven Landro secretly escape capture with his anonymity intact, their story could have fit perfectly within then-current Legion continuity. Unfortunately, they failed to make the effort and instead hatched a rotten Easter egg...

Hmm, I'll have to have another look - I thought Tinya just got the spy ring busted, but I had not recalled that the two of them got captured.

That said - your question.

In his first appearance as Lightning Boy, Garth used his powers in an unusual manner--when was the next time he was depicted employing this atypical aspect of his abilities?

I know he clapped to get the lightning to happen in that first story. Darned if I can remember when it happened a second time, though.

More to the point of what he actually did with the lightning flashes rather than how it was produced...
