Nah. Lots of planets have been to war. But these are the only three Legionnaires I could find with the connection I'm thinking of.

All have gotten tied up with nationalistic (for lack of a better term) movements?

That's an interesting one. And I guess it's true. But that's not what I had.
Hint: after further consideration, I now think that I could have put Ral Benem on the list too. He probably belongs on there a little more than Brita An'nan does.
Another hint: there's a reason why I'm referring to them by their civilian names.

All three have codenames associated with plants: Shrinking Violet, Andromeda, Chlorophyll Kid.
(Not sure how Kono (Brita) fits into this, unless her name derives from a imaginary plant in the Legionverse. I always thought it derived from Brainy's favorite drink, kono juice, but maybe the juice is made from a plant.)

Andromeda is a plant? I've only ever known it as a galaxy/constellation.

That's it. (But, for Laurel Gand, the codename in question isn't 'Andromeda'; it's 'Tiger Rose'.) And, yes, my assumption was that 'kono' is a kind of fruit. (Isn't it?) Go ahead.

brilliant one, Matt. I'd forgotten about Tiger Rose, and the addition of Ral really threw me off as well.

Now that I think of it, Laurel itself is a kind of plant.

Andromeda polifolia is another name for bog-rosemary. So, your question worked either way, Matthew. I'll be back later with a new triad.

Hardcastle?
Brian Keith was Hardcastle in the show "Hardcastle & McCormick" "19" was a hit for Paul Hardcastle.
I had to look up Geoffrey Palmer, but he played Lionel Hardcastle in "as Time Goes By".

All originated in the Golden Age, and have directly mentored several others in their respective lines of work.

They've all been seen smoking cigars?

Chaim is correct. Although I am not sure about the cigar part. All have been seen smoking.
Jay Garrick in his first appearance is having a cigarette break when the accident that made him Flash occurred (and kind of caused it too)
Bruce Wayne was seen smoking a pipe, mulling how to fulfill his vow to his dead parents when the bat burst through his window. I also saw another Golden Age story set on a ship where Bruce goes on deck for a smoke (cigarette) and stumbles into the mystery of the story.
And of course Perry White smoked lots of cigars over the years.

You should have seen me scouring my comic collection to remember all three of these names. One, of course, I knew right away; a second one I happened to know where to find it, but the third had me flipping through this and scrolling through that, until I finally realized exactly where it had to be. Anyway, here we go:
