Three musical playwrights who's partner was also teamed with another musical playwright?
Did some checking. I'll give others a chance before giving this new answer (which is hopefully the one Kid Prime is thinking of)

Good guess. 2 out of 3 correct, but (correct me if I'm wrong) I don't believe Jonathan Larsen ever had a partner. I know he wrote the music and lyrics for Rent and Tick... Tick... BOOM! by himself.
I'll give a hint later on today.

Three musical playwrights who had unfinished musicals at the time of their deaths that were performed as they were. (I was going to say tehy were produced after they died but Larsenw as still alive when the first production was being put together. i think he died the day before first ngiht of Rent or something. Oh, but he did have another one that he'd written that's only just been produced but I don't know if that was unfinished).

Good job, Bevis! (Though I'm so not surprised.)
Technically, I was referring to the movies of their last projects (The Sound of Music, Rent, Aladdin), none of which they were alive to see, sadly. Hammerstein died weeks after The Sound of Music went into previews.
But you got it, fellow musical theatre man! Over to you.

I'll give a hint later on today. Early on for Rent, he and Billy Aronson were partners, but split because of creative differences.

I'm not sure if it counts if their name isn't on the final product.

Ah. I see now. The original idea was Aronson's, and he did cowrite "Santa Fe" and some of the title number. Oh well, c'est la vie.

Yup, that's the one. Specifically they all have (or had, in the case of Kelly) aristocratic titles.

Not my thought. I know Colossal Boy having that situation back in the day, but not Data. And I don't know Lena Luthor well enough.

That's not really a very particular connection, especially as the Data you are thinking of wasn't really "born". And I think in most incarnations of the Legion, wasn't Colossal Boy actually born on earth? He is currently, and pre-crisis, he was amongst the Legionairres (along with Sun Boy, Karate Kid, and Wildfire) being honoured for being born on earth.
OK, here's a hint...this question is about three primarily comic book characters.

Another hint:
Colossal Boy is pre-crisis Lena Luthor is post-crisis Data is not the character from Star Trek!

OK, no guesses, so I'll give another hint
Data is a character from Thriller (short lived non-continuity DC series by Robert Loren Fleming)
The connection has to do with people that each of these characters were related to

Hmm, you are both right, of course. Kent actually had the specific thing I was going for..."children of presidents", but Quislet was essentially correct as well and got his answer in first (apparently at the same minute!) I guess I've got to give it to Quislet...if I'd seen his answer only I would have given it to him, and he did get in first.
Now that I've done this, I can't do another groovy triad that occurred to me as I was giving hints on this one, namely "Star Trek" "Thriller" and "Goonies"...which each had characters named Data in them.

yes, pre-crisis she was his sister, but post-crisis, she was his daughter with the Contessa.
As for your three:
While all three are famous for other things, each of them served in the House of Representatives.
The childhood friend Exnihil never had.
