There were actually eight presidents who took office without being elected to the Presidency. They were elected as vice presidents and then promoted from that position. While these three are among those eight, there is still something else that sets these three apart from the other five.

I said it involved their position but I didn't say which one. Hopefully I haven't made this too convuluted.

It is what was done with the VP position.

Those three took over for their predecessor after only being in office for a short period and served their Presidential term without a VP. Others, including Johnson did the same but either took over during a second term (as Johnson did) or succeeded themselves and had a VP who served later.

The others all assumed during their predecessor's first term and never had another of their own.

Bierce was featured as a detective in a novel "Ambrose Bierce and the Queen of Spades". You, of course, are famous for the Queen of Diamonds. But the only Queen I can think of to connect Wieringo with is when he drew Insect Queen in the Amalgam comics.
