Each was expelled from the Legion temporarily. Star Boy for killing Kenz Nuhor, Colossal Boy for telling Legion secrets to Tarik the Mute, and Ultra Boy for supposedly hiding a criminal past as a space pirate (ADV 316).

Anson Jones was President of Texas, Jeffesron Davis of the Confederate States. Don't know anything about Dole.

Pretty much, I'll give it to you. They were each the last person to be president of an independent (at least in their own minds, obviously in the case of the CSA this was in dispute) nation that was later absorbed into the United States. Dole was President of the Republic of Hawaii before the U.S. annexed it.

Not what I was thinking of, but I'll give it to you. I was going for the fact that they all had adopted children.

Don't give it to me. Nancy Reagan was never married to anyone other than Ronald Reagan. I did some checking after posting my guess.
Seeing as you gave away the answer, you'll have to come up with a new one.

Crap! I really thought both Reagans had been married before!
All right, try another U.S. Presidents question:
Woodrow Wilson Dwight Eisenhower James Garfield

The middle names of all three came from one of their parents:
Dwight David Eisenhower (father David)
Thomas Woodrow Wilson (mother Janet Woodrow)
James Abram Garfield (father Abram)

Wow. Not at all what I was thinking, but impressive. There's a little more obvious connection, that applies to only these three Presidents.

I like this presidential trivia so here's another that only these three presidents have in common (and it is not the obvious answer):
John Tyler Millard Fillmore Chester A. Arthur

I assume "the obvious answer" is that they were all Vice Presidents who assumed the presidency upon the death of their predecessor?
Would the correct answer be that they were the only ones of those types whose predecessor hadn't served half a term as President before dying?

You are right on the obvious answer (all three assumed office upon the sudden death of their predecessor) but the answer I'm looking for is not the length of term. It is something only these three presidents have in common and I think a one or two other vice-presidents assumed office less that half way through a term.

LL: Less than halfway through a term, yes. Less than halfway through their predecessor's first term, no. (Lincoln, McKinley, F.D.R. and Nixon all served full terms prior to the one in which their presidency was terminated; Kennedy and Harding served more than half their term.)
Still, I will attempt to think of the other commonality you have in mind.

Nope, both Tyler and Fillmore were married when they took office. Tyler's first wife died after the first year of her husband's assuming the office and Fillmore's first wife died less than a month after he left office.
Arthur was a widower and never remarried.

A hint is this has something to do with their position. There was actually a fourth president who also would fit the bill but these three are tied to the same commonality through Chaim's original guess (the all assumed the office early in their predecessor's first term).
