You're so close lance!! It was a "SLOW SCHOOL" sign that had a triangular concrete base. The base acted as a ramp, which tipped one truck out of the way of a head-on collision with another truck.

Once again, Omni Craig, You've puzzled out the clues. Now you ask, demand, or beg, and stand aright our muse.

No, that that was a good guess. There actually were a couple Legionnaires in the HQ at the time.

Hmmm, where have all the trivialists gone?
I'll give a hint...this story did not take place in the DC Comics Presents issue with the Legion of Subs. It took place in an issue of Ambush Bug.

The phones were tied up because they were all calling to have Robin killed off?

Yeah, I actually went and dug out that issue of DCCP, but no dice. I never read Ambush Bug, so I hope someone else did!

Not a collect call Quis, but good guess too.
The phone was ringing, but no one could answer it even though there were Legionnaires in the building who wanted to answer it.

(IIRC: Dialogue balloons over exterior shot of Legion HQ:)
"Matter-Eater Lad, is that your stomach growling?" "No, that's the phone. But you should have heard my stomach growling before I ate the phone!"
"Gee, Brainy, what do you want to do tonight?" "The same thing we do every night, Bouncing Boy: try to take over the United Planets!!" They're B.B. and The Brain ...

Plaid Lad, Cera Kesh, and X-Bomb Betty were all rejected by the SW6 Legionnaires team. Since Matthew E was first to correctly name 2, he gets to ask the next question.
"Gee, Brainy, what do you want to do tonight?" "The same thing we do every night, Bouncing Boy: try to take over the United Planets!!" They're B.B. and The Brain ...

What one Legionnaire has been given two completely different and separate portrayals during the Waid/Kitson run of the comic book? By which I mean, he or she appears once in one issue, portrayed one way, and then reappears some issues later, portrayed in a way so completely and radically different that the two renditions pretty much have only the name in common.
