Interesting info on the grading system in Canada, Sean. Thanks for sharing.

My experiences have been a little different. Neither my undergrad institution nor the two the community colleges at which I've taught use pluses and minuses. The only institution I've been to that did was my grad school. As I recall, an A+ was something like 97-100 percent, a A was 93-96 percent, and an A- was 90-92 percent, though I could be mistaken.

that's the normal range for US schools. I just recalled - my undergrad school in NYS did not do A+; 94-100 was just an A.

This weekend's major annoyances:

1) A broken coffee pot that needed to be replaced.

2) The knowledge that this coming week is probably my last at my current job.

3) Exhaustion because my neighbors were up all last night blasting music and partying until about 2AM.

My neighbor does like his summer parties, but he always packs everything in around 10-ish, so I don't complain. (His laugh is also alarmingly like Hawkeye's on M*A*S*H.)

Quis is next!

My roommate would be complaining about the noise even if everything gets packed up around 10ish.

Kent has the lie. I go for a haircut every 4-6 months. Right now I am good til October/November

I do get Esquire every month. My Dad had a subscription to US News & World Report which started coming to me after he passed away. About a year ago US News & World Reports switched to all digital. So they started sending Esquire in its place.

And without a car, I do tend to go to the grocery store every day.

1. I went to the Matisse show downtown yesterday (Sunday) at the Vancouver Art Gallery for the second time.

2. Despite my swollen/achy foot, I walked several miles around town yesterday, and spent a good portion of today (Monday) on my feet.

3. I have 43 final exams to grade by Wednesday next week.

1. I did so. I had already seen the show, but my friend Simone was in town and wanted to see it. And since I'm now a member, I not only get in as many times as I want, but have a few guest passes too!

2. I did that... and have been paying the price since. It didn't get excruciating until last night. Better now, but I am still going to have it checked out.

3. I actually have 42 exams to grade by Monday.

Quis has it!

1. I plan to see a doctor about my foot tomorrow.

2. I plan to go to my friend Tim's MA defense on Thursday.

3. If my foot is in decent shape by then, I plan to see one of my favourite Canadian bands on Saturday (name withheld so no one can cheat and look up the listings!).

HWWey has it! I am actually hoping/planning to see an American band (although they first made it big in Canada, and did live in BC at one point): Heart. Also, I do like them but they are not a band I consider a top-rung favourite. But they are paying the provincial Expo... Cheap and crowded, so i won't go if my foot is not better.

Tomorrow I'm going to

1. attend an award ceremony to receive my five-year pin.

2. work on my syllabus for the upcoming semester.

3. attend a faculty orientation meeting.
