I'll pick No. 1. Then I'm going to go give mr_cleome a stern talking-to regarding whatever he decided to put in this morning's coffee. Doesn't he realize that some of us have to work?!?!?!

I am playing D&D in two different groups (although the same DM) In the G.U.R.L. (Gay Urban Rescue League) group I play a dragon shaman and I have just reached the level where I get the ability to breath fire. All the players in the G.U.R.L. group are gay. In the C.O.W.A.R.D. (Correcters of Wrongdoing and Ramshackle Deeds) group I play a half-giant soul knife (A soul knife is a person who can manifest a psychic sword) It is my friend Richard who plays the gnome magic user specializing in fire spells.
Your turn, He Who

2. Last of the Summer Wine
The only character in all of literature who has been described as "badnass" while using the phrase "vile miscreant."

cleome has it.
I've been watching "As Time Goes By" for several years; it's a sweet story (but not saccharine) about a couple who parted ways when they were young and reconnect 38 years later. It never fails to entertain with its true-to-life situations.
"Last of the Summer Wine" was the longest-running sitcom on the planet! 31 years of three old guys wandering about town like little boys, getting into mischief and commenting on life. Much better than it sounds.
"The Old Guys" . . . meh. Despite featuring steady-as-she-goes Clive Swift (Richard on "Keeping Up Appearances") and Jane Asher (Paul McCartney's girlfriend pre-Linda), it's a second-rate "Odd Couple."
Back to you, cle.

There are some "modern classic" books that I just don't think very much of. I was thrilled with the concepts, only to have the actual execution feel as flavorless and dry to me as a package of stale saltines. For this reason, I never made it to the end of:
1) The Handmaid's Tale, Margaret Atwood
2) The Satanic Verses, Salman Rushdie
3) Catch-22, Joseph Heller

1) I completed Atwood's book, but it didn't really do much for me. I often hear it compared favorably to Marge Piercy's Woman on the Edge of Time, but the latter was much more to my taste. 2) Ten minutes after finishing The Satanic Verses, I could barely remember the ending, or anything else that happened in it. Except for the (semi-autobiographical) scene where the protagonist gets laughed at in school for not knowing how to eat a kipper. Of course, that was almost twenty years ago. Maybe I should give it another shot. A person who likes stories about flying aliens in leotards should be better at processing Magical Realism in literature, right? 3) I gave up on Catch-22 about halfway through. The prose seemed leaden and colorless, and it really grated on me that the one recurring female character wasn't ever given any name other than "Nately's Whore." (Maybe Frank Miller is a big fan of this book. ) I still don't know or care how it ended. Invisible Brainiac wins.

Hmmmmm... Catch-22 was the first book that I stopped reading. It was just too depressing for me.

Quis, it was more that the style and mannerisms just grated on me like nobody's business. I love Dalton Trumbo's Johnny Got His Gun-- also very depressing and very anti-war. But I think Trumbo was a much better writer than Heller.

I haven't read any of these, so I should find time to take a look...
1) I need to work on my biceps.
2) I need to work on my chest.
3) I need to work on my back.

I've never really focused on my back, so I should work it out more. My biceps are a sore point for me; they're decent but I always feel they're not proportionate to my chest. Originally posted by He Who LSHes: 2) I need to work on my chest. A lot of people say my chest is my best feature. Must be all the swimming I do... In any case, I don't bench press because it's definitely big enough! You're up He Who!
