OK, I am working on this puzzle. I have found the first lines of dialog for various fictional characters. Can you match the character with the dialog?

1) Ya think I'm a cowboy
2) Try again, Doc.
3) I've found it! I've found it!
4) I know you two don't care about being expelled, or Tom either, but what about Boyd?
5) Doesn't look like we have much of a choice, but I'll remind him.
6) Welcome to my house! Enter freely and of your own free will.
7) Before I come on board your vessel, will you have the kindness to inform me whither you are bound?

A) Scarlett O'Hara
B) Luke Skywalker
C) Superman
D) Victor Von Frankenstein
E) Popeye
F) Sherlock Holmes
G) Dracula

My guesses. The only ones I think I know for sure are Luke, Frakenstein, Holmes and Dracula.

1=E
2=C
3=F
4=A
5=B
6=G
7=D

I wanted to ring in on this, but I think LL has it.

Scarlett was talking to the Tarlton twin about on of their many brawls ands expulsions. Tom and the bookish Boyd are their older brothers.

I think was first time we hear Clark Kent talking is when a doctor is trying to draw blood for a physical.

The only one one the list I can imagine saying "Ya" is Popeye.

laugh

This is a really cool quiz, Quis. I'd like to see more like it!

It is hard to come up with some. For example Tarzan's first words are "I am Tarzan! I am a great killer!" And Jane's first words are "What does it mean 'Tarzan of the Apes'?" And Princess Leia's first words are "Darth Vader..." That kind of gives them away. Then it is a matter of tracking down the first appearance of the character.

So, do you want to continue? I could come up with a couple for the next round. I don't think having seven, like you did, would be easy but maybe two or three at a time would be good.

Good game Quis.
I only got the Dracula quote.
I agree with LL, 7 at a time would be too hard but, 2 or 3 sounds good.
I can't believe I didn't get the Sherlock Holmes one though.

Be lucky

It's an appropriate reference, as those were the first words spoken in any feature-length movie. laugh

That was said by Al Jolson, in "The Jazz Singer".

OK here is a Legion Their First Words.

Just a note: these first words are from the first lines of dialog within a story. I did not use any dialog from the cover or splash pages.

1) Hello there Superboy
2) Hi Clark Kent
3) Superboy, give my regards to Mr. & Mrs. Kent, your foster parents, when you return home
4) So this is where Superboy lives.
5) Ohhh Where am I?
6) *gasp* It's soaring out through the window.
7) I am your second super girlfriend and now look behind you for another astounding surprize
8) Of course I do...
9) Pardon my stunts Superboy to "lure" you here quickly I used my super strength for the horseshoes, my super cooling breath to freeze water, and my infra-red vision to bake the clay letters.

Cosmic Boy, Lightning Lad, Mon-el, Phantom Girl, Saturn Girl, Shrinking Violet, Star Boy, Triplicate Girl, Ultra Boy.

In looking these up, I noticed that Shrinking Violet appeared 3 times in ten issues before she spoke.

And Brainiac 5, Bouncing Boy, Sun Boy, Colossal Boy, & Invisible Kid either mention their name or power in their first line of dialog.

Ok here are the first words of a famous cartoon pair.

Character 1: [Character 2], they think we're moon people.

Character 2: They do? Then take me to your president.
