Yeah, now that I think about Brin's origin and the planet Zuun itself, wasn't the surface of his homeworld lifeless and uninhabitable? Besides, how are the attributes of superstrength and agility indicative of wolfness or even ferralness?
Having said this, however, from a visual perspective, I used to think it was kind of neat when T-Wolf's eyes would go red and he'd get a bit "ferral," but later versions that were permanently outright animalistic (i.e. super-hairy), such as Furball and the like, just didn't appeal to me as much.
In terms of characterization, though, my favourite versions of Brin are Giffen/Levitz's and DnA's (especially the latter versions tag-line: "Think fast!").
Anyway, while I liked much of the preview art for the next artist, I'm in the no-bare-feet-for-Timber-Wolf camp.
