No Angelfests going on in my town... certainly not with as many taverns as we have.
Nor do we have an Aurorafest, devoted, I imagine, to either the Northern Lights or those cool models in the back of old comics (though that latter would be sweet!)
While we do have many music festivals, there are none devoted specifically to the nocturne.
But, we do have a festival centering around one of these remaining themes:
<strike>a. Angel</strike> <strike>b. Aurora</strike> <strike>c. Banshee</strike> d. Blob e. Cannonball f. Destiny g. Forge h. Iceman <strike>i. Jubilee</strike> j. Karma k. Nightcrawler <strike>l. Nocturne</strike> m. Northstar <strike>n. Polaris</strike> o. Quicksilver p. Sabre q. Sage r. Storm s. Thunderbird t. Toad

Although there are a plethora of cannonballs used up the road from me in Valley Forge during their military recreations, there is no festival celebrating them in my town.
Nor is there a Thunderbird Festival; not for the Native American mythological creature, nor for the English marionettes, nor for the rot-gut wine (though I could see a festival for the last going really badly... really quickly!)
And, although my town sees it's share of sabres when the Scottish bagpipers march in our local parades, they are only accoutrements, not the focus.
But, one of the remaining is a focus for a local festival in my town. Which?
<strike>a. Angel</strike> <strike>b. Aurora</strike> <strike>c. Banshee</strike> d. Blob <strike>e. Cannonball</strike> f. Destiny g. Forge h. Iceman <strike>i. Jubilee</strike> j. Karma k. Nightcrawler <strike>l. Nocturne</strike> m. Northstar <strike>n. Polaris</strike> o. Quicksilver <strike>p. Sabre</strike> q. Sage r. Storm <strike>s. Thunderbird</strike> t. Toad

No to Northstar, I just put that in as an alternate to Polaris, thinking that it might tempt someone into thinking that we do celebrate the north star and that I was just being pedantic about the name. Also a no on Forge, though that is a very reasonable guess given that I had stated my proximity to Valley Forge. The overall region that I live in has a long history in ironworking and there are quite a few historical forges around, but none that are feted in my town. The closest we come to a Sagefest is merely my wife and I being happy that we didn't accidentally kill everything in our herb garden. Although my town does have an event centered on a semi-aquatic animal, it's not the toad, but rather the duck (there is a yearly rubber duck race in the French Creek - strange, strange town). And while I've never heard of a Destiny Festival, it does sound kind of cool... I imagine a sort of gypsy thing replete with old women reading tea leaves, tarot cards, and crystal balls. Damn it, Novelty, now I totally want to go to DestFest! So... the set up once again is this: I really enjoy the town I live in. There is always so much activity; some festival or another going on during the weekends. It recently occured to me that my two favorite local festivals have as their focus something sharing a name with a character from the X-Men mythos. The first I'll give you: Phoenix. Every year they build a giant wooden phoenix in the center of town and, on the equinox, burn it. What is the theme of my second favorite local fest: <strike>a. Angel</strike> <strike>b. Aurora</strike> <strike>c. Banshee</strike> d. Blob <strike>e. Cannonball</strike> <strike>f. Destiny</strike> <strike>g. Forge</strike> h. Iceman <strike>i. Jubilee</strike> j. Karma k. Nightcrawler <strike>l. Nocturne</strike> <strike>m. Northstar</strike> <strike>n. Polaris</strike> o. Quicksilver <strike>p. Sabre</strike> <strike>q. Sage</strike> r. Storm <strike>s. Thunderbird</strike> <strike>t. Toad</strike>

I gotta admit my thinking wasn't that evolved. I simply picked what seemed most likely of the choices left. Anyway, my next guess is h. Iceman

Three more up... three more down.
I thought "Iceman" sounded like a cool opposite to the famous "Burning Man" event but, no, not a real festival.
Between all the rain and snow we've gotten over the past few months I think that a storm would be the last thing my town would want to celebrate.
And although quicksilver is the only metal that is a liquid at room temperature, I suspect that's not enough of a reason to throw a festival for a pretty poisonous substance.
Down to just a few choices... what exactly does warrant a festival in my town?
<strike>a. Angel</strike> <strike>b. Aurora</strike> <strike>c. Banshee</strike> d. Blob <strike>e. Cannonball</strike> <strike>f. Destiny</strike> <strike>g. Forge</strike> <strike>h. Sabre</strike> <strike>q. Sage</strike> <strike>r. Storm</strike> <strike>s. Thunderbird</strike> <strike>t. Toad</strike>

Right down to the last guess! Neither karma nor nightcrawlers are celebrated in my town... but blobs are. Or rather, the Blob is. I live in Phoenixville, PA which, in 1958, was the setting for the cult horror schlock film, "The Blob" with Steve McQueen. The film was made on location in and around Phoenixville, making use of a local diner, a doctor's office, several houses and, most famously, our old style movie house, the Colonial. Every summer, Phoenixville celebrates "Blobfest", a weekend long celebration of cheesy sci-fi. The streets are filled with novelty memorabilia vendors, folks dress in 50's period Sci-Fi costumes, and there is even a contest for the best tin-foil hat. The weekend culminates in a screening of an original print of the film itself in the Colonial (complete with "Rocky Horror" like shouting lines at the screen) ... followed by a town-wide reenactment of the famous scene of people fleeing the theatre as it's attacked by the Blob. After the theatre is emptied, the "authorities" come in wielding fire extinguishers to freeze the monster and it's finally brought out (that is to say, a bucket containing the original dyed silicon gel used in the movie) in its shrunken, defeated state. It is truly a bizarre weekend, but mad fun! Here's last year's culmination: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRsMNU2oS4s&feature=related Next round to He Who LSHes.

I figured it had to have something to do with the movie. Jumping on the hometown bandwagon, the place where I was born is known for its association with which famous person? a. Chuck Berry b. Johnny Carson c. Lou Costello d. John Dillinger e. Amelia Earhart f. Wyatt Earp g. Dwight Eisenhower h. Carrie Nation i. Harry Truman j. Jesse James k. Edgar Allen Poe l. William Shakespeare

I hope Poe will always be better known for his literary works! One thing he's not known for, though, is any particular association with my hometown.
