As my last thread ended up being quite inflammatory I thought I'd star again :-
So, I'd like to know what long term fans think of Foundations and the fact that it has brought both an increase in sales and as a result more fans to the legion (or back to legion).
Are you in some ways a little bit protective of what's going to happen as you stuck with it through thick and thin or are you excited to see what will come next, especially with Simone on the title?
Over to you guys!

I'm always glad to share the Legion with new people. The more of us that buy and read the book, the longer it'll be around (and the fewer reboots we'll have to endure). I look forward to the Legion every month, no matter who's writing and drawing it, though lately I've been much more excited about it. Every team has had its ups and downs, so I just take the book as it comes.
I'm glad that Foundations has increased sales. It's been a pretty good story so far.

Anything that increases sales is a good thing.
"Foundations" is okay as a story. I think DnA are trying too hard to tie it into the Legion's history with various references to past creators and homages to past storylines (it could be said that the entire arc is an homage to the Great Darkness Saga). But it's had its moments.
I am looking forward to what Simone brings to the book. I'm not familiar with her work at all, but its time for some new blood.

I have no problem with more readers to the title. While I may feel protective as most fans to of books they enjoy, I'd be moer worried about editorial decisions. If the Legion were to really blow up like the X-Men, then I'd be worried about it being franchised, diluted and mass marketed to the point of parody but that isn't very likely to happen.
With Superboy's inclusion, right now I'm more worried about the Superman office doing something to screw up the Legion again.

Well, I am not too thrilled with the Foundations story arc as it is too much like the Great Darkness Saga. So I have a feeling of "been there, done that" and that I have already read a better version of the story.

I have been enjoying the Foundations story, especially the artwork. The story is entertaining enough, but since the end of the Computo storyline and thru Dream Crime I've felt DnA have been overextended with their MANY other titles they're writing - and the Legion has become a little watered down as far as content goes. Still, I wish they had dropped some of their other writing chores and kept on the Legion for a while longer. It doesn't seem that they have been on the title that long to me.
Chris Batista and Chip Wallace have done a great job on the art. I especially like the renditions of the JLA servants and their devotion to the "Kirby-esque" style Apokolyptian uniforms. I appreciate Jack Kirby and his contribution to comics more and more as I get older.
Having Superboy(s) in the story was a nice touch for the Legion 45th anniversary. I think Superboy has always been a part of the best moments in Legion history, so I'd like to see at least one of them stay on permanently. We'll see!

I think I will reserve judgement until the storyline ends. I'm in favor of bringing new readers on board, of course. I'm not convinced that this storyline has been so successful at that so far. The use of Kon-el had the potential to bring some Teen Titans or former Young Justice fans into the mix. It don't think this is proving successfel, because Kon's portrayal here is so different from in Teen Titans. It's like reading a totally differnt character.
So far, the Legionnaires themselves aren't being portrayed as likable enough for new fans to become involved with them. Cosmic Boy has been a real downer, and the treatment of the Garth has seemed unnatural and strange.
Personally, I am not liking the artwork. I LOVED Coipel on the Legion and everything since has been a disappointment to me. I hope the new fans like it, because technically it is pretty good art.
All of that being said, there are a lot of positives. I am curious about this new Clark. I think the time anomolies and the Garth situation still have the potential to really surprise us. DnA have certainly dropped some bombshells in the past, and I kind of think something big may be coming. We'll see. Ask me again in a couple of months.

I'm all for increasing the readership base of the Legion, and I have enjoyed the story so far. I also like that we've seen considerably more of Lyle and Vi lately, and the action does seem to be spreading around a bit more with pretty much all the Legionnaires appearing to some degree or other, and Kon at least isn't hogging too much of the spotlight YET, IMO.
And I'm all for new writers taking the stories and characters in new directions, so long as they stay true to the characters and don't do anything like terrorform Zoe again.

I'm enjoying the Foundations arc far more than the Dream Crime one.... I thought that was a major disappointment Kon El won't be around for long so that helps
