Philip Glass is an avant-garde composer whose work often consists of the same note or chord played over and over and over and over and over. I am not a fan.

Oh. Sounds like his stuff is pretty transparent. I bet you see right through it. Probably a real pain to sit through.

...one apple ...two pears ...three plums ...four strawberries ...five oranges ...a cake, an ice cream, a hot dog, a lollipop, chocolate, pizza, a muffin.
Then the thread had a stomach ache.
Then... a nice green leaf.
Then the thread wasn't hungry any more.

The Opening of Einstein on the Beach , one of Philip Glass's most famous works. Though this is probably a better example of why he might annoy people. Also notable is the fact that he is the cousin of NPR personality Ira Glass, who is kind of a bizarre sex symbol to a certain segment of the female population (well, the kind that tend to listen to NPR).

[snip] Originally posted by Eryk Davis Ester: ...Ira Glass, who is kind of a bizarre sex symbol to a certain segment of the female population (well, the kind that tend to listen to NPR). Wha--? Okay, I may be, uh, somewhat quirky in my choice of imaginary boyfriends, but that's too much even for me. OTOH, I did hear a couple of Philip Glass compositions on the Evergreen station earlier in the week, and they were actually not bad. A string quartet and then something for a slightly larger group with wind instruments and the like. I mean, you wouldn't mistake them for Tchaikovsky or anything, but they sounded nice and accessible. Like something you could play in Peoria without being thrown out by the bouncers.
