Stiles and Peters, the respected internet site credit rating agency, has downgraded Legion World's sterling AAA rating to a disappointing AA- rating.

The announcement came late Friday evening after those who were posting from work had presumedly gone home for the weekend. This left only the sad and socially awkward late Friday night posters to react and absorb the shock. Markets are bracing for the fallout Monday morning - or perhaps late Monday afternoon - when everyone else sobers up and returns to standard work avoidance posting patterns.

S & P's scathing report cited the following factors for the downgrade:

1) A soaring deficit in posting activity by a number of high ranking "LW Hot 100" members.

2) An abundance of threads veering hopelessly off topic.

3) Inability of LW's political leaders to reach compromise on important matters related to the long term stability of the board. Specific examples cited in the report included lack of agreement regarding the type of yacht to secure for the highly anticipated race against Josh Siegel and lack of progress in increasing response times to trivia questions in the Spaceopoly forum.

Legion World administrators engaged in secret meetings throughout the weekend. They may or may not issue a response.

Bah! We are still better than the DC board's B rating.

I say that the top 10 posters be given a 30% post reduction break. This will stimulate lower posters to contribute more. (of course the practice of assigning every 7th post by these posters to the top 10 posters will continue)

Also limit access to the site to a maximum of 12 posters at a time.

And I stand firm in saying that there should be no new trivia threads.

It may seem like these measures will reduce traffic and further lower our rating, but I sincerely believe it will cause the opposite effect.

I couldn't even get into Legion World for hours at a time this weekend! The protesters are once again everywhere, all waving their silly placards and puppets about-- as if anyone cared!

I ordered my chauffeur to simply run them down, but he politely demurred. Concern for the state of my Rolls, or some detestable sympathy for the lower orders heretofore undetected by me? It's getting so you can't even rely on your own staff anymore.

Why must the rabble get so up in arms about some silly lost pension or their child no longer able to scam free food at school. Can't they just sell one of their summer estates if times are so hard? Or have their cook fix the child something healthy in the morning before the school day begins?

Perhaps one of you could use your media... access, and bring this urgent matter before the public. They need to be warned about the dangers of having this positive army of idle louts milling about everywhere, intimidating honest folk. Why, soon I'll be afraid to even leave my mansion to go clothes shopping!

Everyone just needs to calm down. There is no real crisis here. Everyone knows that the S & P numbers are arbitrary assignments, and are no real reflection of the strength of LW's real posting situation. While the posters at the very top may suffer slightly from this, the vast majority of posters and the lurking class should not feel any pain whatsoever.

Of course, even though I maintain that there's no actual problem, I want to place the blame for this situation squarely on those posters that I disagree with.

Before we do crack down on the protesters, might I request we take an hour or so to enjoy the nude ones with body paint?

There are plenty of both sexes, certainly enough for everyone.

My fiance' the powerful comics-hating Josh Siegel said he was pleased by this turn of events?

Interest rates are going to go sky-high. How am I supposed to ever pay off my Legion Academy loans?!!

While my official comment to the Enquirer is 'no comment', I will admit to you fine folks that Tiffany Spiffany, Josh Siegel and myself are buying up the Bonds at a discount now, confident the dividends will still be paid and then plan to sell at inflated prices when the rating returns to AAA next year. We'll make a killing.

Unfortunately many threads will close up in the process and lurkers will lose an opportunity to post but hey, that's the market's fault, not ours.

Fortunately, we'll still all get our generous quarterly posting bonuses.

If you haven't already done so, it might be a good idea to get a copy of all your threads out to a secure vault in a triple-A country - and keep your alt-ID handy for a fast exit.

I, for one, am 'going Galt' and taking my posting offline, to be scratched onto bark with a rock, so that my hard work and genius is no longer robbed and 're-distributed' to the shiftless inferior rabble currently destroying this socialist nanny-state!

This rating is irresponsible and short-sighted of S & P. Don't they know LW is too big to fail?
