Woke up dreaming that I was solving a mystery. I think I'm spending too much time on the MMB in the Office of Security Thread.

Two old high school friends who I would never be friends with now where the culprits.

Tomorrow and Thursday I'm having a personality asessment in two sessions, which will help determine what kind of jobs are best for me. I'm nervous. Like, really nervous.

Oh those are cool, Stealth. Which ones are you doing MBTI? HBDI?

The info they spit out is interesting but really obvious at the same time. wink

LOL

Thanks, Tamper Lad, I feel a little better now. smile

I've spoken to the doctor twice and she didn't say anything about the specific kinds of tests.

But if those tests are cool, then I'm cool with them.

I'll post an update in this thread tomorrow.

Stealth, if it's something like Myers-Briggs, than it can actually be kind of fun and interesting, but don't let anyone pigeon hole you too much on the "perfect" job for you. The best thing about these tests is that they help you understand how you perceive the world and how that differs from other "types." So, the results can help you understand the challenges of a particular field, but they shouldn't be determinative. Many people have multi-modal results and therefore different viable paths.

...but you don't have a moment where you're sitting there staring at a table full of twenty-five characters with little name signs that say, "Hi, my superpower is confusing you!"

It went great. Even the test with 344 questions was a breeze. Today focused on emotional responses, and Thursday is about the intellectual responses, which should be even easier.

Nope... the laptop is a goner. I'm stuck using the school computers at the moment. The hard-drive may be salvageable (someday); that's where the Abin/Cobie pics (and 90 percent of my Alberta pics) are.

The Kent/Dedman team-up was cancelled, alas.

Well, the intellectual part was a bit of a brain-strain in spots (one of the tests was about finding the missing objects in a series of drawings), but great fun in others (putting together a bunch of little red and white blocks in the patterns presented on the page.) Overall, both days went very well and I see now I really had nothing to worry about.

Thank you, Cali.

Best of luck with university. Hope you ace everything.

And I'm sure that, when the time comes, you'll find a "real job" that you're comfortable with.

hug

Dearest Legionworlders, I've been missing from Legionworld for months now (pesky 41st century kids) but I have an unheardof 3 days off in a row after working 60-70+ hour weeks for a coupla months. What's going on in my life = I got this job at an ad agency in San Francisco and it's equal parts crazy and awesome - 18 hour days, 25 cent beer vending machines, 900MB Photoshop files, crossdressing light-bondage photoshoots, Blue Angels n' Beer rooftop keg parties, binding dozens of books, mid-morning mimosas, Superbowl campaign pitches, recording voices for a NFL website, $50 cab rides, all the free milk we can drink, Dana Carvey, expensed Cheesecake Factory dinners, NBA, NFL, and Nascar. And Serena William's tuckus.

So yeah, I haven't had much time for a life outside work, for family, or for friends (online and off). But hey, how's it going and what's going on!? Any weddings or interplanetary wars whilst I was gone? Illegitmate children or lunch dates in DC? Potlucks or pie?

Okay, so tomorrow morning I'm going out to sea on a submarine for a few days...

Nothing new, it's what I do for a living, test submarines...

See you guys next week.

The vision: A small fish pond with a gurgling waterfall and an attractive sampling of aquatic plants, just outside the porch, a contemplative, quite respite from the bustle of urban life.

The reality, this weekend: Four trips to hardware stores, a pool supply company, and garden center to buy a new pond pump for the gurgling waterfall, a new filter-system for the pond, and all sorts of algae retardants and chloramine neutralizers. My fish are now in a plastic wading pool that my neighbors use for the dogs to play in. A ton a bowling-ball sized field stones have been removed from the pond so that I can de-gunk them and return them to the pond once it's restabilized. I'm leaving work shortly after lunch today to return to this money/algae pit.

My next respite from the bustle of urban life is going to be a plane ticket to the Caribbean.

Tomorrow is my bachelor party. 'Nuff said wink

Seriously though, we now I'm way too wordy for that. I don't know how you all do it in your parts of the country / world, but where I'm from, we usually rent a hall, and people buy tickets to get in for open bar/kegs, food, raffle, 50/50 raffle, gambling, and yes, possibly entertainment. My job has been to collect prizes for the raffle (I'm not supposed to have a job, but I couldn't *not* help) and they're quite good. Its open to really any guy--they don't have to know the groom! Everyone pays $30 a ticket and its really a fundraiser type deal for the bride & groom.

No kidding...estimated head count is 200+ at this point. It may be even larger. Its going to be a good time laugh

Sounds like a wonderful idea, Cobie.

I don't think I've been to a bachelor party since my brother got married the first time (gasp!) 21 years ago. I remember a lot of drinking and some stag films. Your idea sounds better.

Have a great time!

Wow. Admittedly, I've been out of the loop, but I've never head of anything so big.

My cousin's getting married this weekend. His bachelor party was a round of golf with his brother and my brother last weekend (I couldn't make it) and a baseball game last night with dads, grandpas, his brother and a few assorted male cousins and friends. When his brother got married year before last, there was no bachelor party at all.

Best wishes to you and Lady Cobalt. I hope your wedding day is lovely, and your life together a joy every day.

You know, if he could work that 25 cent beer vending machine from Mel's work into the scheme, that bachelar party might make the news.

So you and the Mrs. each had a bridal shower? hmmm

I'd expect that from crossdressing Cobie, not a real man such as yourself! laugh

Yeah, I would've thought the Cobester would just admire himself in the mirror for hours on end for his entertainment. But I guess that wouldn't have been anything unusual for him! laugh
