Wow Drake way to go! A Legionworld Double Wedding! Besides Proty and Koko what do we have to serve for canapes?

Next summer is as close as we've decided.
Other "going on in my life" news:
My fiancee and I are going to Quito, Ecuador on Monday for a week. She's presenting a paper at an academic conference but we're making a vacation of it. It'll be like a "engagement honeymoon" (I can see the tourism industry trying to market the notion of those...)

Well, today i found out that I have diabetes.  I have been put on medication, and the doctor seems to think that I have a good shot at gaining control of it, but I have a long way to go ... But I know that I have some very good friends who'll help me out.

I came down with diabetes (type 2, which I guess is the polite way of saying, 'you need to lose weight, son') about 10 years ago. Lost a bunch of weight after having the meanest doctor in the world tell me all about limb amputations and blindness and sexual dysfunctions and other unpleasant things.
After six months (and seventy pounds), I went from needing insulin to needing to be taken off insulin 'cause it was making me pass out and stagger around blind and delerious. The doctor was like, 'Uh, stop taking insulin before it kills you.'
I was always terrified of needles. My first self-jab of insulin, I slammed the thing into my thigh really fast, wanting to just get it over with. Ow! I nearly broke the needle, and I had a bruise! It was much easier when I took my time and got over being a scaredy-cat!
Hopefully it will go similarly for you (without the needlephobia-induced bruising!).

I got my eye appointment set up for Monday to find out if I've been unlucky enough to win the Glaucoma lottery too and working on getting a regular doctor to help me take care of my diabetes. (The place I was going to that had been monitoring my high blood pressure for the last 3 years said they couldn't help me with this.) So
far, it's been heck of a search. Everyone my insuracne covers either isn't accepting new patients or can't see anyone till the middle of July.
Right now I'm waiting to see if one of the doctors
can fit me in on the 25th. Sigh.

Good news.
Had my eyes checked and there's no sign of damage from the diabetes. I'm going to need to get yearly checkups now, but that way if there is damage it should be caught early enough to do some good.
But at least that's something positive.

Good news Blue! As for me, well, on Monday I had dinner in Oklahoma City, got to talking to the young lady next to me, and then we hung out all night. Turns out she's a semi-famous broadway actress, on tour right now. She plays Enphalba in WICKED (Coleen Sexton is her name). A really cool person with some great stories! I googled her today so I can get directions to an upcoming concert she's doing in Manhattan--turns out she's ALL OVER the web! Youtube, wikipedia, etc. Quite interesting that one of broadways young, attractive starlets wound up having dinner with Legion World's young, attractive star
