In the original Transformers cartoon, the main villains' respective lieutenants from both the pre-movie and post-movie episodes were both voiced by actors who were infamous for their real-life wild antics and died in early middle age of drug-related causes: Chris Latta (Starscream,) and Roger C. Carmel (Cyclonus.) The latter actually died before recording all of his scheduled episodes, and was replaced by Jack Angel.

I kind of envy that poor guy in Weird Al's "Skipper Dan" song, because at least he's working.

shrug

"The antecedents of random are somewhat murky. It originally meant ‘impetuosity, sudden speed, violence’, and only in the mid 17th century emerged as an adjective meaning ‘haphazard’. It was borrowed from Old French randon, which was probably a derivative of the verb randir ‘run impetuously’. This in turn was based on Frankish *rant ‘running’, which was apparently descended from prehistoric Germanic *randa. This originally meant ‘edge’ (it is the source of English rand (OE), now obsolete as a term for ‘edge’, but reintroduced in the 20th century via Afrikaans as the name of the basic South African currency unit), but it was also widely used for ‘shield’, and it is thought that the link with ‘running impetuously’ may be the notion of soldiers running along with their shields."

Took a day trip to Mt. Hood yesterday. Very pretty, but also very scary to see how much less snow there is on the mountain now, compared to twenty years ago.

The evolution of feathers has traditionally focused on insulation, flight and display. Discoveries of non-flying Late Cretaceous feathered dinosaurs in China however suggest that flight could not have been the original primary function.
