TMK had Valor seed Braal late in the 20th Century--he even clashed with a warrior named Krinn who already had magnetic powers-- but who knows what Johns has in mind with Brianiac's shrunken cities?

I've never gotten why we don't see more Asians in various and sundry pop-culture futures. The only future-setting I've found to impress me in that vein was the one for Trinity (a White Wolf sci-fi game). Europe had suffered a nasty disaster (satellite city fell on Paris, with other chunks hitting other areas of France and parts of Germany), and the US had suffered an economic collapse and fallen into a cyberpunk dystopian situation where mega-corps and the military ran things. The 'superpowers' of the world were China, the United African Nations, and a Sudamerican Coalition (mainly Brazil, but with Columbia, etc. being significant as well). My favorite sci-fi novel for that sort of thing is Dave Wolverton's On My Way to Paradise (again, depicting a heavily non-white dominated Earth).

From the way Cos' has been drawn, I've always suspected that he might be Italian or Spanish. But it'd be just as cool if he was Jewish.
By the way, I'm not well-read in terms of other comic books, so I have to ask: other than Jim Allon and that Dream Doctor guy (not his exact name, I think) from the Wildstorm universe, are there any other jewish superheros or villains out there?

Hey, MB. Here's one board\'s answer to your question . Scroll down far enough and they also mention Ultra Boy, or at least one incarnation of him. I'm unsure why, because I wasn't reading the book at that time.

Also who could forget that one tiny little portion of the LeGuin franchise before its marvelous Sci-Fi Channel Bleach-out ? Oh, wait. Everyone forgot it, didn't they ? A blessing.

In one of my elseworlds ideas, his name was Rocco Corrini, so yeah, I can see that. are there any other jewish superheros or villains out there? One of the Youngblood crew is a growth-character named Masada, who supposedly channels the strength of everyone who died at Masada and becomes Colossal Boy-sized and tough. She also has intense flashbacks from all of the other souls she contacts for that power... Seems to be a Jewish / growing character connection! StormWatch teamed up with an Israeli super-team at one point, but I don't remember their names. One was a 'golem' robot that would be destroyed at various times and auto-upload to a new body and be ready for action, while another was a teleporter who used her powers offensively and defensively (creating portals in front of her that absorbed incoming attacks, and then putting the 'out' portal behind a foe, so that he'd get hit with his own attack!). The most famous ones I can think of would be Ben Grimm / The Thing and Kitty Pryde / Shadowcat. But there's also Magneto, Atom Smasher (Infinity, Inc), Doc Samson, Gertrude Yorkes (Runaways), Justice (New Warriors / Avengers), Moon Knight, The Monolith, Nite-Owl II (Watchmen), Prime, Ragman, Sabra, Seraph (Global Guardians), Songbird / Screaming Mimi (Thunderbolts), Volcana, etc. As Magneto's kids, Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch are at least half-Jewish (and half-Romani). Of the foreign / ethnic characters introduced in Contest of Champions (Shamrock, Collective Man, Le Peregrine, Dreamtime, etc.) Sabra, the Israeli mutant hero, is the only one who seems to have shown up much afterwards, mainly due to her mutant connection giving her some appearances in the X-Men.

Thanks Cleome and Set, for the information. I'm glad to see that Jewish people seem to be well represented in comics.

Yes, and who could forget the Tick and Arthur singing Streisand on the elevator in their final live-action appearance ? Truly superheroes at their best... [wipes away happy tear] I bet none of the Legion runs ever closed with Streisand. Ha !

Well, I already proposed that Fourboot be done up as a musical. So far, no takers.

I'm not intimate enough with Cosmic Boy to say if he's Jewish. Only Lydda and Jazmin know for sure.
