Cobie, don't forget to press the security button before you send them off to their assigned seating level.

I'm the Maitre d' here when I can spare the time. Another Maitre d' would be great too!

The many denizens of Legion World who consider themselves my fans have begun to gather around the door to try and spot a celebrity or two here, and get a glimpse of the new shining star restaurant on Legion World!

I was thinking someone along the lines of Outdoor Miner, to woe the customers with his wit and dry humor. We'll attract different crowds wink . Who better to get the customers in a light-hearted good mood?

Otherwise, Arachne would be a good choice, the customers will find her as charming as we all do wink love

Well, Miner has been "elegantly wretched" lately.

And what an architect you are!

These mocha leather banquettes are so comfortable. I could just sit here for hours!

And I'm absolutely mesmerized by the stained glass starfield. I think it's cool that you can actually find real constellations on it! Look -- there's Orion...

What an exotic and rich decor! I've been so busy in the kitchen, this is the first time I've seen the finished dining room.

Chef Caroline must be exhausted from all the menu planning and cooking. I last saw her curled up in her office chair, her head nodding over next week's menu.

The baking alone knocked me out, but it was worth it! The Linzer Torte turned out well and I was particularly pleased with the flatbreads. That's a truly exceptional bake oven we had installed!

Perfect.

Bruschetta with fresh heirloom tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella.

A salad di tonno dressed simply in extra-virgin olive oil and cracked black pepper.

And, to end it all, a rich tiramisu.

I'll leave the main course(s) up to the professionals! smile

Hmmm... Baked Stuffed Pork Chops floating in applesauce with baby peas and garlic buttered red potatoes?

Okay, you talked me into it.

I had a terrific dinner at the Beacon tonight!

Grilled trout -- flown in fresh from a mountain stream -- and a nice assortment of baby asparagus and redskinned potatoes.

Then, for dessert, a torte made with fresh strawberries. I usually prefer chocolate-based desserts, but this one was top-notch!

I'm going to eat at the Beacon every night from now on. MatterEaterLad

There were some very fine people here last night, with a very serene atmosphere. I can't wait for my first night off to enjoy it myself. I wonder when Outdoor Miner and Arachne will realize that they have new jobs here? You can never have too many jobs on Legion World wink !

New Year's Eve - a lot of people will be heading out late for parties. And since it's Chef Caroline's birthday, she gets the day off - so I'm just setting up a light buffet in case someone wants a snack before they leave:

Seafood chowder or Caldo Verde (Kale soup with beans)
Boston Brown Bread, Onion Pan Bread, Baguette
Salad of winter greens
Risotto with chanterelles
Moussaka
Mixed steamed vegetables
Fruit compote with cheese plate
and, of course, birthday cake and ice cream.

House wines and assorted beverages

Hm, FC, that sounds delicious! Seafood Chowder and Moussaka! Big-time favorites of mine! I think I'll start right now with a little house wine...

Does the buffet come to our tables? (Since we're floating several stories off the ground?)

Well, it looks like I'm a mite tardy for the big openin' night festivities.

And me dressed up all nice and whatnot! That friendly Official Arbiter of Taste gave me all these fancy duds - rawhide chaps with nothing on beneath them. And a rawhide fringed vest, with no shirt, but a bandana. A mite different from how I usually dress, but seein' as how it's a special occasion and all, well, I'm happy to oblige.

I think I'll just sit me down a spell. Maybe that friendly Mr. Blaine will show up. He did me a right favor last time by letting me clean up at his place and giving me a place to rest my head. I wish he was here now so I can thank him properly!
