Both criticism and praise are welcome here but please keep the tone and language civil. Rational argument is preferable to accusations regarding creators' personal habits.

Oh, this one's troll material all right, kind of like Kangamania with a more extensive vocabulary. Must resist the temptation to poke it with a sharp stick, but the urge to see it go completely bonkers is *almost* overwhelming.

I'm having fun with the current run/boot and am hoping for more action-centered storylines, in depth characterization and some super-villainous type threats. Of course, I'd love for long-lost characters like Wildfire and Dawnstar to show up (instead of new characters that never seem to interest me which is a recurring theme in Legion history).

But I'm very excited for Supergirl and for the most part and enjoying the series.

sigh

Okay, then explain why the lack of Trapper interference resulted in one of the Legionnaires suddenly becoming half Carggite, or how it resulted in the Dark Circle changing from being one of the oldest civilizations in the galaxy to being a loose alliance of worlds manipulated by Brainiac Four. One could go on...

Anyway, it had *already* been established well before Zero Hour that a world without the Time Trapper's interference would be a world without a Legion at all. That was the entire point of the Mordurverse story.

Tinya's preboot dad was never born in the new reality, but her mother still took a husband (who happened to be Cargitte), and she liked the name "Tinya" in both realities.

And the Butterfly Effect/Law of Unintended Consquences can strike at these things. A small change near the beginning of Time (like, say, Hal Jordan going nuts...) can cause any number of effects Trillions of years down the line. What you should be asking is why things stayed so Damn Similar. Things in the 20th/21st Century changed to, I remind you.

And who says it's the same Dark Circle anyway? If we can have seven (or is it eight?) Clayfaces in less than twenty years on one planet in one hypertimeline, I think two organisations sharing the same name in a whole galaxy wouldn't be out of the question...

The Valor retcon (which the TT wasn't responsible for) stayed intact post-ZH, I remind you. Mon-El never seeded the worlds pre-Crisis.

'Boot, you've basically proven my point. The reboot Legion isn't the preboot Legion timeline with the Time Trapper's interference removed. The entire history of the universe was changed at the Dawn of Time. It's a completely different timeline. Now, maybe the result of Paralax's meddling was that a number of elements of Earth-8 or whatever came to be more prominent. Maybe, someone else in fact took the Time Trapper's place in the new timeline (which would explain why you've got the Time Trapper appears in the postboot Legion meddling with their lives), and is responsible for thing like their being a Valor as world-seeder (which was originally a creation of the pseudo-Trapper Glorith) and someone called "R. J. Brande" appearing in the 30th century to inspire the Legion. I don't know.

But the one thing the postboot is *not* is the result of simply removing the influence of the Time Trapper and his fellow meddlers.

Oh, I've been enjoying the current series and didn't mean to imply that I'm not.I just meant that if Waid had decided to pick up from 'End of An Era" and run with that continuity, I'd buy it.

If Mark had decided to pick up slightly after the death of Mentalla (during the few weeks that Sensor Girl was the coolest Legionnaire ever), I'd buy that too...or even just after "The Greatest Hero of Them All"...I'd buy that one.

I don't mean to denigrate the current Legion by comparing them to a couple of stories I consider highlights of previous eras. I truly hope the modern incarnations of the Teen Team Supreme can equal or even eventually surpass the classics of an earlier age.

Hmmm. Well, i love Barry's art. Have since the first time i saw it.

But the storyline so far has left me...eh. And thats the problem. Its just been ...eh.

I LIKED the cast of villains that the Legion had. I liked the fact that it was a legion, but limited in size, so that while bigger than say Titans, it still had an amazing cast of regulars, along with the single greatest cast of supporting characters ever.

And while i think that as an icon Superman is the blandest of Vanilla, Superboy worked for me with the legion. Without superboy...it just doesn't work. It hasn't since the Byrneboot for me. There have been some okay stories, but its just that, okay.

In trying and retrying and trying again, they have floundered their way into a muddled mess that should never have been.

I know that everyone has their favorites. Usually that favorite is the one that first introduced you to the legion. For me, it was Grellera art. Stories were soft, but the art rocked to my childish joy. Then the stories got better, and the art suffered until Levitz/Giffen.

To me, and it is obvious that others will disagree just from posts already on this thread, the legion just isn't the legion without the foundation that it started as a club which offered Superboy membership only to jack him around.

Love the tie or hate it, that is the genesis of the legion. Without it, there is no real heart to the book. Comic history has a definate beginning for the group. It was the ultimate Horatio Algers story. A nothing, throw away idea that grabbed interest and grew sometimes inspite of what writers and artists did instead of because.

I got my wife to start reading the book on the last run. She really got into it. Along with Fables, this was the book she wanted to read. Now, she doesn't even ask to see it.

I want to see Trapper layin' a beatdown on the team. I want to see Mordru pushing the team past the breaking point and then watch them triumph.

Its great that in his own way, Waid took something from the real world, the fanbase that would not quit, and made them a part of the book for real. But something has been lost in the process. Its like getting too close to your childhood hero's and finding out that they are only human.

I think we have the same thing here.

Damn you, you kids! Get off my lawn or I'm callin' tha cops!
