While topic is hot, I'll just add that it seems like Ayla's chest has developed this issue. Also, Manapul has chosen some rather... convenient shots of Phantom Girl's current costume... and its cut outs. Sizzle's chest... okay.... breasts are super shiny! Their size is not a problem, either.
Okay, that'll be my last post about these comic book characters' tender bits!

Also, Manapul has chosen some rather... convenient shots of Phantom Girl's current costume... and its cut outs. The scene with her standing next to Imra, I think it was? I was actually distracted by how many cut-outs were in that costume. Not that I mind, she's the last one who needs armored clothing (unlike, say, Shadow Lass, who is always mixing it up in hand to hand, and should be wearing something a little more 'secure' that would keep her jumblies from leaping out and clobbering someone!). It's not like the costume elements can't be *transparent* in the 31st century, so I'd be fine with some hint that some of these girls are in fact wearing armored space-clothing over the parts that appear exposed. Sizzle's chest... okay.... breasts are super shiny! Their size is not a problem, either.
Sizzle's tattoos? Awesome (have we had a Legionnaire with tats?). Sizzle's costume. Ouch!

Great Space! I usually can't stay away from the current issue thread and end up 'spoiling' the book for myself, but not this time!
And I'm glad, this was my favorite issue in a bit.
Liked:
Seeing how everyone voted... stuff like this offers so much fodder for speculation.
Sun Boy's back!
Lydda!!!
The rejects are treated right... LOVE this! It's like, about 92% as good as being accepted onto the team. The props to the obvious pairing of Shady and Lydda was nice.
Jo getting his butt semi-kicked.
The art and cover... yumzilla.
Terra Firma in jail. Thanks, Rao! Shooter as ever believes evil acts should be punished and I certainly agree here. A longstanding insult has finally been made right.
One gripe... for my money, Gazelle shouldn't have been outright accepted either.
Hmmm.. just realized... where the hell is Theena? She was really one bright spot of WaK's run and it looked like towards the end there she was a full-fledged member.
Now, to read this huge thread and see if anyone enjoyed it as I did...

Brainy - "Oh, we need gamma radiation to kickstart this spacetime-warping engine. Quick, Lightning Lad, shoot Sizzle so that she can make us some..."

Lightning Lad - "Shut the hell up, Brainy."

How well or badly he followed the Waid character templates is open to valid criticism, but we can't fairly criticize him for neglecting to do something he had no intention of ever doing.

When Mr. Shooter first took on the assignment I was thrilled with the idea. I had just gotten back into Legion after a several year break. If I offered any criticism it would be towards how much comics in general have changed over the years. Story arcs are far to long to remember what is happening over the coarse of months and months for my taste. I don't necessarily want to see single story comics again, but I wish they would wrap things up in 3 comics, then move on. In a latter post I went into a little more detail about how I felt a general comic story arc should be in length and what should be in between.

The only thing that felt empty about Lydda's return was that Polar Boy wasn't with her.

He seems obvious to get one, in a cliched way, of course. I used to buy 'Crying Freeman', who always reminded me of Val, and there were lots of tatoos in that series!

Y'know, if I hadn't just recently read that old Shooter interview re-posted elsewhere on this board, I don't think this would have been nearly as laugh-until-hot-tea-fires-out-one's-nose-into-the-next-room hilarious. But I did, so it is. Ow. My nose really hurts now. [sniffle] [ETA-- Wait ! Cham's a guy again ? Can't these writer people make up their freakin' MINDS ?!]

Another great issue, just got it today, read it first of the heap and loved it. I especially liked Night Girl - who was always one of my favorites - and I also liked her nearly losing her shirt, hilarious (and realistic - how are all these costumes supposed to survive all the fighting anyway?). I liked Sun Boys return and thus getting rid of any Terror Firma leftovers - him taking over the band was ridiculous from the start - and I liked Invisible Kid being such a shy guy This all too short Shooter run will keep a special place in my heart as the best Legion stuff there was after Zero Hour. Fresh and exciting storytelling.

Got this issue recently as well and enjoyed it. The twist on the invaders is simply awesome! I don't think I've seen that idea pop up anywhere before and I'm dying to know how the Legion deals with the problem. It makes me mad that they are cutting the run short, especially since they don't have anything immediate to replace it with.
I also liked the tryout (although I don't agree with Gazelle coming in). I like the Legion Reserves (it's the Subs without the stigma) and I liked Saturn Girl calling Gazalle out for some reason, can't really put my finger on it but I thought it was a good moment (and glad someone did it).
I liked Dirk's return (although, again, makes me mad that the run is ending so soon), I like his new costume (really reminds me of his original suit). I also liked how he threw the Terror Firma members in prison, but totally think his joining them was completely stupid and an ill planned move from Waid.
Still, I like how this run is shaping up, where its going in the last few issues and feel like it's really getting a lot better. Sigh, I think at the end of this I'm going to miss the threeboot. Again, wouldn't make me so mad if they let Shooter finish his original arc and then had the new Legion ready to go, but the way L3W is going we won't see any new Legion material until 2010...

Ah, second half of 2009, I'm pretty sure about that. Just yesterday read over at CBR that the first Adventure storyarc will feature Mon-El and the Legion. With Johns leaving JSA with #26, there's hope that he will mastermind the first Adventure story of the Legion.

I just hope they're not reintroducing all that Valor backstory crap about how he was the inspiration for the Legion instead of Superboy.

At this point I think I'll take anything, but I have to agree that whole revisionist re-telling of Valor (ugh, hate that name!) was pretty lame ass. They keep saying the name "Mon-el" though in promoting the new series so at least they got that part of it right. We'll see.

I didn't mind the 'Valor' name. It's not like it makes a lot of sense for Lar Gand to be calling himself by a name that Superboy called him for an hour, a thousand years ago, when he had amnesia...
I didn't even mind the concept of some legendary figure seeding the various earth-colonies with humans (although I prefer the history where Lar was stuck in the zone for 1000 years, because it only highlights what a whiny little twit Superboy Prime is, and how horribly foolish Superman is for thinking that a couple of years in limbo would 'drive someone crazy' and be a good excuse for 30,000+ counts of murder...).

What? This is heresy! Change a long-standing fan fave Legionnaire's name, just so it makes sense!? 20 pushups, Mister. But you do make a good point.

I also liked Mon-Els name better than Valor... but I liked Valor better than *shudder* M'onel. How was that supposed to be pronunciated? Monnlllllllllll????
Hated it.
But I also had no problem with Valor being the new Superboy. As long as they kept the old continuity mostly alive, I was in for the ride. Heck, I even still cared a lot for the characters during "Legion on the run". McCraws Ayla being reduced to childhood (or how old was she?). Torture!

The codename "Valor" was not as ugly-sounding as "Umbra" ... now that is totally gross!

My personal "hate name" of the flashy, coooool new names of the 90s was "Spark". I hated that, cause Ayla had always been my favorite character and then suddenly, she had the worst codename.
Live Wire wasn't much better, though. Umbra I could live with.
