Yup, you nailed it LL. I remembered the title's of the shorts, but i couldn't remember Dupin's name.

As for executioner, i don't know much about it. I think it was one of the pulp styles that had different writers writing the same character, wasn't it?

You don't know the Exectutioner? Shame. smile Anyone who has picked up a Punisher comic should know him since Marvel ripped off the idea. The first Bolan book was published in 1969, five years before the Punisher appeared.

Mack Bolan was a Vietnam soldier who had his family murdered by the Mafia. So he began a one man war to take out the mob. This ran through I don't remember how many books until, in the last seven named after days of the week, he finally crippled the mob to the point of new return. He then began working for the government as a terrorist hunter.

The books, all the originals anyway, were written by Don Pendleton. Sometime in the 80's, after Bolan had taken out the mob and was a government agent, the books became Don Pendleton's Executioner. He passed away sometime in the 90's and I honestly don't know if they are still being published or not. They were a popular format for young men along the lines of the Destroyer books (Remo Williams).

The small library in the town I went to high school in used to let me take the paperback copies of the books as they showed up. I remember one of the books actually had Bolan going through the small town (Jackpot) I grew up in. At one time I had all the books up to #120 or something. I'm sure there are twice as many now. Innovation Comics even started a comic series back before they went under in the early 90's. I was only ever able to find the first issue.

For those who cannot act, who are the helpless victims of the ruthless, I will strike back. - Mack Bolan

I once picked up a book titled "Badman's Bordello", i think it was in the "Longarm" series. The lady at the counter looked at me, i must have been all of about 13, smiled, and checked my purchase out. I got home and read it and basically laughed through the entire thing. It was that bad. Basically porn for illiterate guys, if that makes sense.

I had been seeing porn for years by then. It didn't impress me much, lol.

Nah, it's the little goatee's that metrosexshile's have been wearin' for about seven years now. A friend of mine yells at the screen everytime she see's a guy wearing one "Just come out, already. We get it."
