Happy Birthday Gail!!

Overall a very fun issue! Liked seeing Tasmia get Brainy back on track, and watching Tinya and Chuck take charge was great!

I have to agree with Jim about Cham's ability to morph. It seemed like our shapechanger essentially get a broken arm, but he doesn't have any bones and this isn't his natural form to begin with? In prior continuity to mess with his shape shifting ability, you had to mess with his antennae. Small potatoes though, I'm along for the ride! Thanks Gail!

And I hope we're all about to find out that Brin has a healing factor just like the Marvel character that was created after him... TimberWolf

Happy Birthday Gail! birthday

Seeing as I've read most of #37, I'm afraid to say anything more here without giving something away. I admire Gail's strength in that regard!

Well, he did say he 'heard something snap.' I never thought of it as a broken arm, but some internal injury, or even a brain event. Good question though!

Nightcrawler, it's easy for me to avoid spoilers in my own stuff...cause I hate having stories spoiled for me, I just do. But what's hard is when someone else has written something great and I can't say anything about it yet. smile

Actually, it was Comic-Con. #37 was there as a preview copy. I've already spoiled it for some. shocked

I will say that each issue gets better than the one before!

I almost wish I hadn't read the copy at SDCC seeing how I hadn't read #35 before leaving for the con. And now I haven't seen #36 yet. But #37 was great, what was available. And plenty in it for a number of posters here. laugh

Happy B-day, Gail! Glad to see you back. I loved the latest issue!

Something else else that always grabs me, though it's not always good to see, is when the Legionnaires stop short or fail. True, not much of the sort has happened yet, but it really brings about touching moments when Jo can't save his own mother-in-law, Karate Kid can't rally the prisoners but the Persuader can, and the rest of the Legion team in Metropolis suffers their own injuries. Brings out the human in the 'unstoppable' super-heroes we occasionally see in the book.

Trudy continued to impress me this issue, as did seeing Tinya has inherited her mother's diplomacy and tact. A little harsh to the reporter (though not uncalled for), yet her nurturing side still dominated and she was able to call the shots well.

Glad to see Violet back on her feet (literally) and such moments as Jo & Winema at the hospital, Dr. Gym'll (of all people!) rallying to service, and Chuck's sending out the Cadets (Nightwind! Thanks, Gail!). Oddly enough, I was holding back a "No!" when I saw Arrow pinpointing the old doctor. Who knew I could be attached to the crabby, little guy? smile

All in all, the pacing was great in this issue. We had some minor solutions to some problems and questions from last issue, some new ones created, and pieces being added yet still not quite fitting about the big scheme Devil and the others have worked out. I can't wait to see how this falls into place, especially with the good scenes and drama we're getting as the Legionnaires and the Metropolis citizens fight for their survival without the tech they love so much.

Happy Birthday Gail! Nice to see you back here.

Regarding The Persuader, I don't know what Gail intends, but his statement doesn't have to be anything approaching fatherly instinct. Assuming she is his daughter, a guy like The Persuader might simply see her as an extension of himself - one that he doesn't want or like and whose life he feels he can snuff out when he really wants to. Seeing her and Karate Kid interact would be an affront to his ego - that a part of him has some connection to a Legionnaires. It'd be as repulsive to him as if he caught Val going through his closet or something.

I have certainly enjoyed the last two issues more than most since I started reading LSH again. However, Dr. Gym'll's missing 3rd arm as well as his seeming mis-characterization. The Dr. Gym'll I know and love would have went, but he wouldn't have been so noble about it. He would have been much more, "I should go because you will all just screw it up making more work for me."

I also wasn't thrilled with Chameleon's injury. I mean, Durlan's can't really stretch like that in the first place can they? They aren't Mr. Fantastic or Plastic Man's decendants after all.

However, since those are pretty minor complaints over all, I can say the two week wait for the next issue will be much longer than the usual month long wait between issues!

What no one knows is that Gym'll's third arm is a vanity cybernetic, with a fleshlike sheath. It's a status symbol.

Either that or I was unable to draw in extra arms on all the tens of thousands of copies out there. wink

Well I thoroughly enjoyed this issue, and despite a few queries I give it an "A" just like HWW.

I loved Tasmia and Tinya taking charge, TWolf running around like a dog (sorry for bad pun but I had to) and the Jo and Wilmena scene especially. The Persuader scenes were great - he is a badazz! Also it was fantastic to see Val stare down the convicts - that man is one of my new favourites after that scene - so true to character and wonderful to see.

The art had a lot more flow to it this issue too. The colours were gorgeous and really added to the improved art. The men particularly looked older. I have no real problem with this apart from Brainy who I think really suits being a skinny kid - Coluans age slower that humans don't they?

I only have two queries (a blinkin' miracle for me laugh but my other few have already been covered) -

What was the "I'll go find a telepath for you" remark about? (Surely a squadron of Daxamite soldiers would be a prefered choice wink ?) I probably missed something there. Sorry my son has 'borrowed' the issue so it's not at hand for me to check frown

My only other query regards Nura. How did she get capteured? I know Devil says something about the Neurowhatevers but what I mean is Nura sees the sprockin' future! Did she not notice this event that would get the president of the UP (or shapechanging bodyguard wink ) shot, no doubt hundreds or thousands of people dying as technology - implants, elevators etc - fails and traffic crashes into buildings and falling out of the sky. Okay I appreciate that precognition is a bit of a deuxamachina if handled badly. I DO love Nura, I just feel that she should be adept enough to see fairly major events. Maybe Nura had focussed on the genocide happening off panel?

Totally enjoyed it, looking forward to more, more, more laugh

Happiest of birthday wishes Gail.

I took it that he wanted someone broadcasting "don't worry, be happy" thoughts, but maybe he just wanted someone to facilitate communications. It's that or tin cans on strings.

Maybe this event is all the skeletons Nura foresaw back in Dream Crime... maybe her precog visions got jumbled with Universo, Darkseid and Devil events.

Imagine what it would be like to foresee something like this and have no way of stopping it? To know you would be captured, would pick out one of your own teammates for capture/murder... which makes me suspect she did not foresee this, for some reason - or the others could have taken some defensive, preparatory action - which they obviously haven't.

What happened to whole idea of using Nura's power as an "early warning system" anyway? Wasn't that the point of going to Titan during Dream Crime?

Yes, and telepaths would be easier to find than Daxamites, a reclusive race.

Not to mention the fact that Daxamites kind of die and stuff if they leave their homeworld.

Yes, that's why they're reclusive. And the fact that they don't dig ferreigners.
