I actually can't believe there hasn't already been a thread devoted to the wonderful nicknames posters have here!

Most often, I'm called "Rocky" hereabouts. I actually didn't like it much at first. It reminded me too much of Sylvester Stallone (blecch!). Eventually, it grew on me and now I love it! love "Rocky" is actually the closest thing I've ever had to a real nickname.

In my earliest days here at LW, I was often referred to as "RL", "RHL" and "RhL". The first person to call me "Rocky" was in fact Tempest , who at the time was posting as "Luna". It took about a year to catch on.

A few people have their own spins on it. Raging Bull and Semi-Transparent Fellow call me "Hoppy". Sometimes Lash calls me "Rocks".

So, let's talk about these nicknames. Is there one you love? One you don't love? One you'd love to have? One that only one person calls you? Tell us! nod

I don't mind my nicknames.

I'm usually just called Sarky, Sark, Sarc, or SK.

I know I tend to call you "Sarky".

A lot of the nicknames end in a long "E" sound. We have Rocky, Sarky, Lardy, Cobie, Fanfie, Ibby, Nighty, Cali etc., etc.

There are others who favor the "S" form, such as Kippers and Teeds.

Others use initials, such as EDE.

Still others have just a shortened part of their name: Kent, Quis, Lash, for instance.

Some others collect them: HWW, He Who and Huey are all the same person.

I think I've been called IB since like, forever. Not sure when the Ibby nick caught on, though.

I wonder how many of these nicknames would stick if a poster changed his or her display name. Reboot, for instance, used to be called "Sanity or Madness". His nick then was SoM. Now we call him "Boot".

Oh, there is also a special category for nicknames that become so associated with a poster that they now use their nicknames exclusively. Beagz, Pov and Vee are the most obvious examples here.

I remember your being called "Ibby" when you were posting regularly when I first joined up back in '05.

As for name changes, I think Viridis Lament is still called "Deddy" a lot. I think it depends on the person.

I think we MUST include a scene about that in the LOTO novella!

That has totally given me new insight into your characters!

Peebs is a very good example of a nickname that caught on very quickly (though not without some dissent ). I don't think Peebs (which is also spelled "Peebz") had nearly as popular nickname when he posted as Disaster Boy or Danger Boy.

I'm just Cramey or FC, although HWW called me "Fats" when I mentioned that I thought of Fat Cramer as a name like Fats Domino. And Mekt Ranzz, always the gentleman, calls me Miss Cramer.

I think Dev is the only shortened version of my name that is used by like 99% of the people here.

Lash however, calls me Devvie, Devins and other names whenever he feels the need.

Mattropolis calls me several things on FB...none of which I can repeat here. wink

Just plain 'ol "Ex" usually marks the spot, although Kent sometimes calls me "Exxy" and Everyday Girl cracks me up with "Mr. Ex-Nyquil".

I don't remember where I saw this, but somebody calls Lash, "Lashikins" which I always thought was really cute.

And I always hope Ibby get snookered one night and starts posting to the "Posting while drunk" thread so I can coin the nickname, "Ineebs". smile

Lash began calling Pov "Povkins" years ago, so Pov eventually began calling him "Lashkins", coining that phrase. The "--kins" nicknames have also been used by Lash occasionally for others (see Dev above, and every once in awhile I'll see a 'Cobiekins').

I coined "'Boot" for Reboot because it was just funny to type.

People have been calling me "Cobie" since like week 1 of the LMB or even earlier. Once someone thought Semi was referring to Kobe Bryant.

For a time in the earlier years, CK was also common but not so much anymore. That's similar to how not many people call Teeds "TD" anymore, etc. Also, others like Chemical King or Creativity Kid could have been confused by the CK usage.

Spellbinder has a special nickname for me that is exclusive to her: Cobie-cakes.

Reboot used to get annoyed when we called him "S&M" by accident! smile

In a similar vein, people over years have sometimes referred to me as "HHW"!

Rocky is probably the only character in all of literature who has been described as "badnass" (or anything like it) while using the phrase "vile miscreant"--except maybe Stewie! wink
