"The rite of vegetation" bit was hysterical!
And Cham being frustrated at Dirk and Lu was top notch too!
I am really enjoying this new series.

I wonder if he almost got away with the Triplicate Girl impersonation.
As a note, I was surprised Sunboy was upset. The 'He's not Sunboy, I am!' is classic of the era.

Question: Should Waid have maintained the humour level?

Sure. Whyever not? I mean, you don't want it wall-to-wall, but there's always a place for it.

I agree. Peter David got a lot of mileage out of keeping his comics somewhat humorous.

Well, there's a lot he should have maintained (like a pace).
But yeah, humor is really the easiest way to get to know the characters, how they joke, what cracks they make, but also the humor that comes from their interactions (the "I like being naked" an example of this). Instead we stopped seeing who these Legionnaires were and got the dark side of the team (the constant infighting).
So yeah, funny is good.

While reading the trade paperback, (which may or may not include #3. Forgive me. It's long been returned to the library, so I can't check...) Cham said to somebody (Colossal Boy ?) something like yeah, I can be a wall, but it'll still be a wall of, y'know... flesh. At the time, I thought he was being sarcastic; That it was supposed to be him implying that CB (?) was an idiot for not realizing that without being told.
Am I remembering that right ? Because if so, it was pretty damn funny.

Crap! The first few issues of this series were pretty cool, weren't they? How the HELL did everything go so wrong?

I wish Waid had maintained the humor level. It made the characters more likable and more real. It wasn't Ambush Bug level humor i.e. every panel looking for a joke, just the occasional banter and comment. But Waid was the guy who claimed that labelling a comic "fun" was a death knell, when people were saying that his Brave & Bold stories were fun. I disagree, but I'm not the market.
