Well, I finally read it.

If you ignore the plotholes (and what else can you do with them?), it was actually a decent ending that should have come three issues sooner.

Batista's art is pretty to look at but some of his layouts could have been improved. Pages two and three were so similar that they ran together, leaving me confused as to where I was supposed to be reading. (This is why the seemingly abandoned concept of panel gutters was so valuable.)

So, Darkseid's servants were being returned to their original times and forms when he absorbed them? That was completely lost on me. I thought Darkseid had taken only part of their souls, not the entire heroes. (But then I was probably reading that into it, in absence of any other information.)

Yeah, i finally read it too.

Hmmm.

I think perhaps the problem lies in the statements of DnA themselves. They really weren't to hyped up on doing Villian stories. They wanted to do Sci-Fi stories, and the ones they did were pretty good. Yeah, there were plotholes, but honestly, there have been plot holes in almost every story ever told. The old movie, the Big sleep was made for a Dashiell hammett or Raymond chandler book, i think it was Hammett, i forget exactly. Anyway, the movie was clicking along and they realized that the chauffer character killed ofscreen never was closed up. They actually called Hammett and asked him, and he replied that he never remembered not telling whodunnit.

Then there is the imfamous "rosebud" line from Citizen Kane. All i am saying is that plotholes are not something i worry about. They simply are...like Carrot Top. By the way, why is he?

Anyway, I think DnA wandered out of their realm of comfort, and the stories have shown it. Not everyone is a Paul Levitz, so we really can't expect the same level of "characterization" from someone else, or a Julie Schwartz, so we can't expect the Sci-Fi from them he was able to sheppard.

Given that DnA saved the book when it was a do or die situation, most likely to die, i give them a lot of respect.

The Big Sleep was Raymond Chandler, screenplay by William Faulkner. Chandler may not have known who killed Regan but there was no mystery about Rosebud. I have to admit, I never thought I'd see Carrot Top mentioned in the same sentence as Kane.

I'm coming from a slightly different place than the rest of you as I hated Abnett and Lanning's writing from the start. I also hated Coipel's art. I gave them a chance and then finally bid adieu to the Legion with the second issue of Legion Lost. I picked up Worlds out of a sense of fair play but I was repulsed by most of it. I only started reading again with #25 and the only reason I haven't canceled my subscription is because we're finally getting new writers on the book.

I thought Foundations was probably the best thing I've seen from the writers. It wasn't all that good but I didn't feel like the Legion had just been raped, either.

Just my opinion and if you feel differently that's cool.

Rick-- I agree re: DnA saving LEGION from going goodbye-- but I also think credit for that needs to be distributed to Olivier Coipel too.

Since Coipel left, DnA's stories-- for me-- have been so lacking.

And nowadays, not even Batista can re-ignite the fire (as evidenced by the final chapters of YAWN-DATIONS).

So I too shall always make sure DnA get their props for the good they've done-- but DAMN am I ready for eGAD!

Proty, the mystery i was referring to on Rosebud was, if he was complety alone, there was on telephone or recording devise, then how did the people in the movie know his last word was "rosebud"? Just a lil thing, but thanks for correcting me on the Chandler/Hammett thing. Its been a while, i need to re-read them.

I was under the impression that Kane uttered the world so loud, it was heard by whoever was just outside his room. After all, a nurse (who must have heard him or the glass bauble break) came in immediately afterwards to check on him.

I have to admit I've never read any Hammett. Maltese Falcon is one of my favorite movies, though.

On the other hand, I devoured Chandler when I first moved to southern California from upstate New York. I think he taught me more about my new environment than any guide book could.

I'm a big fan of Bogart and Bacall (I think Lauren Bacall is one of the sexiest women ever) but I don't think The Big Sleep is a successful movie. I prefer To Have and Have Not, Key Largo, and my favorite, Dark Passage.

It never occurred to me that no one else heard Kane say Rosebud. I always assumed the nurse in the next room heard it before the globe broke.

Which brings me to my next point. I would have thought that a Citizen Kane Rosebud Snowglobe would be a really popular item yet I've never seen one for sale. I'd buy one if someone made it.

Can I turn this into a trivia question? Where did Kane find the snowglobe?

Ken

Suck-dations?

Crap-dations?

Hack-dations?

Toilet Paper-dations?

Birdcage Liner-dations?

OK. Floundations it is.

Sorry, DnA. Nice setup, but you blew it.

Every time I look at the title to this thread: "Legion #30 - SPOILERS" I can't help but think... "The Floundations story was spoiled before I ever got to it."

By the way, I like the "Floundations" deragatory remark too. laugh It just seems so appropriate.
