Nope! We are leaving in the wee hours after midnight tonight. INtending to drive in the cool of the darkness since its so damn hot getting to Vegas. Oh my stars, I can't believe this is finally really happening! Four freaking years since Scott and I have left the house together for any sort of lengthy vacation.
But, since my dear Mother was always our kitty caretaker, I am still going to ask her spirit to watch over the cats and the house. We are (especially I am) going to really miss my cat children very much. In spite of that, this trip is going to change our lives!

No, we're essentially orphans now, Scott and I. We are socially outcast in our neighborhood because we are not Mormon. We're just relying on the request to the police to drive by and check the house, and on our professional security system. The kitties will have their normal over-indulged set up plus the television will entertain, as well as radios. In the bedroom they will have Scott's rock and alternative and in the kitchen they will have my New Age station. Cats get off on Native American flute music you know

We set off to the airport at 06.30 tomorrow UK time (so not sure when that is USA time) but i guess that makes us the first.

We'll be there probably around Noon local time. Which is too early to check in but still not too bad. We'll be leaving Vegas early Tuesday morning and hopefully beat the traffic. Should be in SD around 1:00 if not earlier. Our kids should be ok. They know how to take care of themselves and they'll have a nice cool house, especially down in the basement. Along with plenty of food and water. It's just always hard to leave them, even for a day or two.

I go to work Tuesday, and fly out of Albany at 6 a.m. Wednesday. 10:30ish arrival. All carry-on, so I won't have to keep my posse (you know who you are!) waiting.

Finally in our room at the Luxor, after an hour check in line and a literal mile to the room. Haven't heard from Darden and Jen yet but I believe they get in much later and will be quite jet lagged anyway. No Internet access here so have to use my phone to post. Gotta get some rest before going out to see Bite.
Oh, got a cool app for the phone before I left that allows me to add comic word balloons and caption boxes to photos I take. I'll try to post some from the con.

I'm packing the minimum - plus a few things I might want to get signed - but I'm bringing a big case because I expect to take some stuff back with me.
Fortunately the airline in question hasn't started charging for the first checked bag. Yet.
