 Thank you all for the good wishes and all the love. This has been an interesting birthday. I have cried almost all day and Scott tells me that I can't beging the new year this way because then I'm destined to be sad the whole next year. I think that since it's been such a hard year for us and the whole world with the war and the weather disasters, terrorism, financial and economic upheaval. I'm glad to see the last of 2005. I have spent the majority of the day in tears, not because I am turning older, but because I was reflecting and remembering so much about my life and so many people in it. I heard a song today that reminded me of how my brother might have been, had he lived to reach his 38th birthday. The song was 'Photograph' by the group Nickleback. (It's about a man looking back at his small town home and remembering his roots and his friends and all the trouble he got into when he was a teenager.) The song made me think about my brother and how much he changed between his teen years and his untimely death. I've missed him a lot this holiday season. He loved to party, and he could turn even an average day into a cause to celebrate something. He used to make me laugh a lot. Anyway, then three of mom's sisters called and we talked about a lot of family parties and gatherings and events over the years. I did okay with them about not crying until I found out that my 29 year old cousin is being deployed to Iraq on January 15th. That made me think about all the men and women over there already and how much they must miss their families every day, but especially at the holidays. Then I was doing okay, and Scott even made me laugh a couple times until the phone rang again and it was my dear friend Debra. She has been a part of my life since 1974. She had a heart attack last year and I could have lost her. We talked about old friends and old times and then all of a sudden I started sobbing and told her how much I loved her and that I just needed her to know that. By then we were both crying. I hope I am done feeling overly emotional now. Poor Scott...... Poor steady, long-suffering and ever so patient Scott. He is my rock and my hero. I am sure he wonders what in the world makes me tick sometimes, but he manages to love me through all of it. I'm going to open prezzies soon, and hopefully there will be nothing there to make me cry anymore. I love you all, and thank you for another wonderful year with my Legion Family

I was so surprised to read your message because your such a nice positive person who always seems to have words of support I guess I made assumptions that life was good and im sorry I never took the time to think.
