... had an online comment to the NY Times editorial page picked as an Editor's Selection. I feel embarassed but pleased like when a teacher would read a paper out in class - it's not much of an achievement but it's nice to get my ego stroked a little.

...just got back from lettering the Specials signs at the co-op. Last of 2008. It's the only reason that I'm compelled to draw something almost once every week for the past two years, proving conclusively that my art degree was not a complete waste of... everything.

... was mistaken for a heterosexual. I was in North Station waiting for the train to my brother's. The station was crowded with people, mostly young people, who had come into Boston to celebrate the new year, stayed over night, and were returning home. As I stood looking for a place to sit, a guy hawking trolley tours asked me if I need help. I said "I just need a seat." He thought I said "I need the T (aka the subway)." He started to tell me how to get to it, but I and a guy with him corrected him. As I started to head off to find a seat, this guy says to me "Well, there's lots of pretty girls around."
I should have said "There are a lot more handsome men."
