Another thing with the population is the Coluan lifespan - it's been 300 years, and I think I saw a 600 year span in one of the Levitz issues. That's always a point raised in discussion of Earth longevity - if everyone lives extended lives, where will all the people fit? Someone (?) could probably do the math - if you live 300 years, but still have children in your 20s & 30s, and they have children in their 20s & 30s - how many people are there in 300 years? And if you have the means to support everybody, especially without the need for galactic conquest, well, why not? I'd still like to think there were some Coluan Luddites arguing against this - but if we want the detailed history of Colu, we may have to write it ourselves.
in one of the gide legion books they said coluans live to be just shy of 1,500 hit adult hood and stay that way
so i would imagine that if a colu parents wanted kids they would most likely wait untill they were around 750
