That makes Nura almost like another famous prophetess ~ Cassandra.
She's in the tale about Troy and then in 'Agamemnon'.
She could see but was cursed to have none of her prophecies believed.
Brainy's always put her in that place.

Frankly, I've wondered eversince Nura appeared in Querl's mind how she was retaining her powers.
Aren't most metahumans abilites connected to their bodies/brains.
The powers are genetic and a product of their physical being, aren't they?

I suspect that if she gets a body back, she'll get the powers back or decide that someone without eyes probably shouldn't be able to see anyway unless she merges with Brainy and uses his eyes.
Or she's just a ghost, and can see without real eyes, in-which-case, she can't be perminantly blinded, right?

So, either she never could really see, except through Querl or somehow Tinya and Dream Boy or . . .

Good thing it's a comic, I guess.

Just finished the issue... and really disliked Nura's portrayal here! Hopefully this is just Brainy being sexist in his own mind with some idealized not-Nura self-made thingie.

Dreamy should always be in a leadership-type role even if it isn't official. Why would anyone make a move without running it past the team precog first (see 80s X-Men with Destiny and Mystique)?

And in battle she should be nigh-unstoppable (see Clock King in the recent TERROR TITANS arc of Teen Titans).

I loved D-Chinner's post on what SHOULD have happened with the Nura/Brainy fight, in the issue # 47 thread.

(I was also growing upset about "Dark Projectra" until I read Mystery Lad's post about this LSH reaping what it sowed with her).

Normally I try and hide the fact that I have a tissue-paper-thin ego structure and constantly crave approbation. But this time I just can't...

Lashie "loved" my post about issue #47!!! He loved it! The Great MLLash his-own-bad-self! DAMN!

Okay. I'm glad I got that out. Back to Dream Girl.

...but you don't have a moment where you're sitting there staring at a table full of twenty-five characters with little name signs that say, "Hi, my superpower is confusing you!"

Now, DC, I've not made it a secret that I tend to love your posts!

If Shooter had written the scene as you described it I would have loved LSH # 47...

Deany mentioned Dreamy's Mayavale appearance-- sure, the story was written while the writer was huffing something other than mist, but for me it is an important one because it's the first time Nura's written as a badass fighter.

Other early, notable appearances that any future Dream Girl writer should refer to:

She and Mystelor are stalemated because she can predict Mystie's every move as Mystie can read her thoughts, in ADV 274.

She sasses-off both Superboy and Mon-El in S/LSH 225.

At one time, I went through my collection and scanned pretty much every picture of Dream Girl. The most common expression she had on her face was the "Oh my God!"

Of course I don't still have those files, but it was pretty interesting.

In this characterization, she's the "Is it chicken or fish?" Jessica Simpson. Hate it.

Finally read #47. The answer to the thread's question.... Yes. DC must hate Dream Girl.

Let's break it down:

Threeboot Nura is beautiful as ever, but competent with her powers. She has the confidence to make statements in the middle of a fight like, "Oh, I thought we already beat you." Awesome!

Better kill her off!

But not really. Let's drag it out for a while, then have her become a ghost in Brainiac 5's mind.

Then, let's ignore that for quite a while too.

When we do bring it back up, let's make sure she's a silly plaything that just wants to stroke Brainy's amazing ego. "I just love this snow globe!" Let's make la la love!"

Next, let's have demons beat the precog powers right out of her spirit face. Then, rather than go to the beyond, let's have her cling to the dream of being Brainy's spirit wifey poo. If he doesn't agree, she'll freakin' haunt his green @$$.

As I said on the #47 thread. None of this horror is because of Manapul's weak storytelling skill.
