Thanks everybody!!!!

I'm actually at work today! Probably the first time I've worked on my birthday in over 16 years!

It's fine, though. I had a *wonderful* family gathering yesterday. I'll tell you all all about it in a bit.....

Thank you, guys. Very nice.

We had a wonderful get-together yesterday. My treat entree....RIBS... was the main course. I rarely let myself have them because I pretty much always GORGE myself.

Some delights... I've worn waiter white shirts for *several* years now, and have had some fun with ties, but really, not much in the way of color or pattern, so I received some nice contributions to a new wardrobe. My main gift, though, from several family members, was ....
a GUITAR!!

I've known for my whole adult life that I'd never make the time to learn to play the guitar, but now seems like the right time. I actually do want to be that guy at the campfire or during the party, who brings out the ol six string and starts the "koom-by-yah moment". (sp?) Lessons were part of the gift. I'm not shy about singing (see the karaoke thread at the Anywhere Machine), so the guitar is a wonderful instrument. I suppose because of my schedule change, I'm feeling more ready than ever to take on something new, like learning the guitar.

Next major item..... a HOT TUB!!!!
This wasn't a birthday gift, it just happened to come to us at this time. My wife's sister and family had a hot tub in their house when they bought it. It was in one of those indoor/outdoor type rooms, with concrete floors. They wanted to use the space for an office/kids' playroom, so the hot tub went to us for FREE!!!! We got it all up and running and we TOTALLY LOVE IT!!!!

I've appreciated hot tubs whenever I've had the opportunity to get in one, but I never thought I'd be the one who has one. Then, when we set it up (which took a LOT of effort) I still wasn't sure if it was really *me.* Well, after being in it and trying it, it IS. We are the right kind of family to have one. My backyard isn't very large, but between our patio and now this new feature, it is becoming quite the entertainment space.

All of that is really nice, but the thing is, I'm just lucky to have such a wonderful family and I love and appreciate them so much; my parents, my brother and his wife and kids, my kids, and mostly, my wife. Yes, I told them.

I do have some great friends, too, but haven't yet put together a party with them. We'll see how that goes...

I LOVE coming here, with all you fellow Legion fans. I don't know what I'd do without LW!!!

---Dean, full of love on this special day!
