Mario Bava (1914-1980) was a prolific director of Italian B-movies of the 60s and 70s, still best known in America for his directorial debut, the vampire classic "Black Sunday." His only two big-budget movies, "Diabolik" and "Lisa and the Devil," were both frustrating experiences for him, the former because of the producer's interference, the latter because no distrubutor would pick it up until Bava and the producer shot new footage to sell it as an "Exorcist" ripoff.

Nagsasa Cove, Zambales, in the Philippines, is a lovely beach for those who want to get away from it all. No electricity, no cellular phone signal, just a quiet little beach sheltered from the rain (and thankfully, running water for the bathroom). It was snowing like crazy about seven minutes ago. Then the sun came out for a few beats, and now it's overcast again.

we had a little bit of snow the last two nights. Yesterday, the hilly side street was still icy, but not all the ice (and most of the snow) has melted. I'm going to post some pics of snow on the palm trees on Facebook soon.
