1. The Levitz/Giffen Legion (This is the era that really got me hooked!!!) We will never forget the "Great Darkness Saga"...ever!!!
2. The Post-Five-Year-Gap Legion (Loved learning about all of that "stuff" that happened "off-panel"). I think this is when the characters really grew up and lost that "this is just for kids" stigma!!! After having been a LSH fan since 1980, I would love to see them return (somehow) to that original incarnation, even if it included the infamous post-five year-gap...which I never had a problem with anyway.
3. The DnA Legion (I really liked this era too).
4. I loved some (but not all) of everything else. I hated the "Archie Legion"...I think that they went down hill from a very rich history in the 80's to become "that". I'm a loyal fan, and I probably should have given up on the Legion long ago after dealing with all of the re-boot crap...but here I am over 26 years later!!!
Long Live the Legion!!!

I had just started going to comic book stores around that time because of the Death of Superman. The first 6 or so issues were great.

Put this old timer down for the Levitz/Giffen era. It still reads well to date - twenty years later and was faithful to the foundation laid by its predecessors (which in my opinion is the true test of writing skill - reboots are a cop-out).
I also enjoyed the Adventure/Action and Superboy stories, which got the ball rolling. The color and scientific wonder (absurdities) of these early stories are understated.
I did enjoy the Superboy Legion story and characters (except for the death of Gim) and was hoping this latest version of the Legion would be closely based on those concepts.
