you turn your back on them for a few years, and they build tunnels to France.

It sounds to me like something you would throw off a ship to keep sharks away.

I don't think Shark Lad has ever posted in any of the "Kill This Thread" threads.

either that, or he's killing more productively. This thread hasn't been killed since it's first incarnation.

On the other hand, as I recall, WalksWithCrowds "killed" the first thread. Anyone seen him lately?

Three possibilities come to mind: 1. WalksWithCrowds felt he had accomplished what he needed to do on LW when he killed the original thread, so he moved on. 2. Having killed the original thread, WWC now thinks he's too good for us. 3. In killing the original thread, WWC somehow forfeited his own life. Do we want to take that chance? DO NOT KILL THIS THREAD!!!!

If you change your mind, I'm the first in line Honey I'm still free Take a chance on me If you need me, let me know, gonna be around If you've got no place to go, if you're feeling down If you're all alone when the pretty birds have flown Honey I'm still free Take a chance on me Gonna do my very best and it ain't no lie If you put me to the test, if you let me try
Take a chance on me (That's all I ask of you honey) Take a chance on me
We can go dancing, we can go walking, as long as we're together Listen to some music, maybe just talking, get to know you better 'Cos you know I've got So much that I wanna do, when I dream I'm alone with you It's magic You want me to leave it there, afraid of a love affair But I think you know That I can't let go
If you change your mind, I'm the first in line Honey I'm still free Take a chance on me If you need me, let me know, gonna be around If you've got no place to go, if you're feeling down If you're all alone when the pretty birds have flown Honey I'm still free Take a chance on me Gonna do my very best and it ain't no lie If you put me to the test, if you let me try
Take a chance on me (Come on, give me a break will you?) Take a chance on me Oh you can take your time baby, I'm in no hurry, know I'm gonna get you You don't wanna hurt me, baby don't worry, I ain't gonna let you Let me tell you now My love is strong enough to last when things are rough It's magic You say that I waste my time but I can't get you off my mind No I can't let go 'Cos I love you so
If you change your mind, I'm the first in line Honey I'm still free Take a chance on me If you need me, let me know, gonna be around If you've got no place to go, if you're feeling down If you're all alone when the pretty birds have flown Honey I'm still free Take a chance on me Gonna do my very best, baby can't you see Gotta put me to the test, take a chance on me (Take a chance, take a chance, take a chance on me)
Ba ba ba ba baa, ba ba ba ba baa Honey I'm still free Take a chance on me Gonna do my very best, baby can't you see Gotta put me to the test, take a chance on me (Take a chance, take a chance, take a chance on me)
Ba ba ba ba baa, ba ba ba ba baa ba-ba Honey I'm still free Take a chance on me

Which reminds me of a line from that 1994 Australian comedy, Muriel's Wedding:
"When I lived in Porpoise Spit, I used to sit in my room for hours and listen to ABBA songs. But since I've met you and moved to Sydney, I haven't listened to one ABBA song. That's because my life is as good as an ABBA song. It's as good as 'Dancing Queen'."

I love ABBA. Nearly 30 years after their split, ABBA's songs are still the gold standard of pop music. Ironically, my favorite song of theirs, "If It Wasn't for the Nights", was not released as a single.

On a dare, I once proved to someone that "Dancing Queen" (or at least the beginning of it) could be sung to the hymn tune "Abbot\'s Leigh" .

I once showed someone that you could sing The Who's "My Generation" to the tune of "Yellow Submarine".

Neil Gaiman once observed that basically any poem of Emily Dickinson can be sung to the tune of "Yellow Rose of Texas."
