I'm partial to The Alpha Band's "Spark In The Dark" myself.

I remember when Homer Simpson was mistaken for Mr. Sparkle.

The grocery store in Springfield now carries Mr. Sparkle, as seen in the current opening credits.

Guiding Light took place in a city called Springfield, apparently, Springfield, Illinois. it originally was set in a town called Five Points and later in Selby Flats. Springfield became the setting in the mid-60s.

When I was young, I visited a Soap Opera fan event and I asked a woman on one of the soaps, I think it was Another World, where Bay City was located. She smiled and said something to the effect that she had no idea.

A lot of the classic soaps had a generic-Midwestern setting. Procter and Gamble eventually let it be more or less established that Bay City (Another World), Oakdale (As the World Turns) and Springfield (Guiding Light) were all in Illinois. I believe The Edge of Night's Monticello and Search for Tomorrow's Henderson were in Ohio and Indiana, respectively. Those were the shows I mostly watched.

That was a great show! It blended crime and mystery in to the soap opera genre beautifully. Of course, it had originally been intended as the original TV version of Perry Mason.

Other than GH (set in Upstate NY) and to a lesser extent One Life To Live (both shows my grandmother watched), I never saw any soap enough to even know what town/city they were supposed to be set in, let alone state.
For years I tried to figure out where Port Charles, NY would be in reality. Kingston, NY was the best approximation.

"Link to the Puppet Clown Killer" sounds like a version of Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon.

Peanut butter and pickle was a childhood favorite, as was peanut butter and green olive. Having grown up in Massachusetts, I, of course, grew up eating the Fluffernutter .

It's one of those things you have to grow up with, I think. Kind of like lutefisk.

A lot of people who grew up in or near Boston consider the Fluffernutter the ultimate comfort food. At one time, it had been proposed as the official sandwich of Massachusetts.
To be authentic, it must be made with Marshmallow Fluff, which is hard to come by away from the East Coast, except in areas (such as, fortunately for me, Southwest Houston) with large Jewish populations, because it is kosher, unlike Kraft Marshmallow Creme.
