I guess some people would rather talk about soup than Posh Spice.

I'd much rather talk about soup than Posh Spice. I love me some soup. Has anyone tried the V8 broccoli or butternut squash soups in the vacuum-sealed containers? They're yummy! V8 Soup

I prefer to make my own soups, or to go to a recent restaurant that makes their own, too.

So, you don't order soup at restaurants that have been open for a while, just the recent ones.

Spellcheck would not have caught that typo.

"Spellcheck" itself is not recognized by Firefox's spellcheck.

Even with spellcheck, there are so many things that are missed simply because they're real words, such as its/it's, their/there/they're, to/too/two and your/you're,

One book I use for my classes, Sin Boldly! by David Williams, PhD, gives several examples of why you shouldn't use spellchecks. My favorite (which Williams claims came from a real student paper): "The Americans had a tack tickle advantage over the Germans on D day."

I've never really studied WWII. I think it is because I feel that I know all about it from watching Hogan's Heroes.

My all time favorite "goofy student paper" was from my first semester as a TA, when a student used the fact that she was taking the exam to "prove" that Freud was right. Her reasoning: She was taking the exam in order to get a good grade. She wanted a good grade in order to get a degree. She wanted the degree in order to get a good job. She wanted the job in order to get married. She wanted to be married in order to have sex. Therefore, everything *is* driven by sex!

The odd part is, she probably married a cold fish who doesn't want to have sex. "Darn that Professor Ester! Why didn't he tell me that good grades don't lead to sex?!"
