I watched one of those competition cooking shows. But being a fussy eater, I wasn't thinking "Oh that looks good. I wonder how it tastes." INstead I was thinking "I'd never eat that."

Heh. I think those fancy competition dishes are meant to be taken metaphorically, sort of like most fashion shows/competitions. You're not expected to crave the whole look or the whole meal. You're just expected to think about the principles of design/preparation and maybe apply some small part of that to whatever you'd be wearing/cooking anyway.

Or just tinting the ketchup black if you're on a tight budget.

The food shows that really crack me up are the ones where the host or hostess prepares what is clearly inedible slop while smarmily enthusing about it like it's the Eighth Wonder of the World. Rachael Ray, I'm looking at you.

Damn. Suddenly I'm all nostalgic for Mom's tuna casserole again.

Ohmygod! The edibility of Tuna Casserole is like determined by the type and amount of olives used.
Shredded salad olives are best, with lots of pimento, & the total volume of olive & pimento should equal 1/2 the weight of the solid white albacore tuna used.

Thanks, Brit.
Any recommendations for the best way to make tuna salad?

Ohmygod, that's like easy
Three cans of solid white albacore, 1/2 medium onion/finely chopped, two medium celery stalks/finely chopped, 1/4 oz lemon juice, 1 cup mayonaise (or miracle whip)
Drain & crush tuna, combine all ingredients in a bowl, mixing well
Serve on lightly toasted seedless rye, with Mayo (or MW), shredded lettuce, and thinly sliced tomato.
Ignore the sound of Mr. Quizzy-Poo Gagging as you enjoy your sandwich.
I also like make a mean chicken cordon bleu.

Thank you, dear.
I'll pass on the chicken cordon bleu, though. I'm very skittish about cheese. The only one I can honestly say I like is mozzarella.

Tuna casserole with olives? Blasphemy! Canned cream of mushroom soup, green peas, and the essential canned fried onion topping is totally the way to go. As for cheese, it belongs on a tuna melt, not in a tuna casserole. And it should always be aged cheddar, not Swiss. Heretics. Why am I always surrounded by heretics? Also, I can't wait for warm weather so I can make Nicoise salad for dinner again.

[bows] Thank You! That's the nicest thing anyone's ever said about that piece, apart from "How much?" and "Are you positive that you've never done psychedelic drugs?"

Yes, they are. The site is woefully out of date due to money issues, though.

Interesting, are you still married to or involved in a relationship with, the same man you were, when you created those?
