I recently re-read "A Tell-Tale Heart" for the first time since reading it in school.

The irony here is that there's little or no yellow in most of my comps, but apparently they still scare away Green Lanterns.

It doesn't seem fair that so much evil brings in so little income...

Okay, I'll try to be serious for a minute or two (which doesn't come easy for me).

The impression I recieved from those compositions was that they were put together by a woman who had serious issues with her lot in life. Someone that felt she was being held down by forces beyond her control which unfairly forced her into a subservient position with no hope of ever breaking the societial bonds holding her back.

Either that or someone who really really hates housework.

Well, most of the imagery in those works are from advertising that came from the 1950s and 1960s. The messages in those ads are pretty much the opposite of what you've just written. So think of these collages as an inversion of the original message in the original images: much like Tarot readers say that a card placed down for reading with its image upside-down means the inverse of what it would mean with its image viewed right-side up.

But... these are not meant to be "pure" autobiography. Just like all those mild-mannered, often skinny and unathletic folks who love to read/write/draw superheroes aren't actually out in the RL world cheering on vigilantes who settle disputes with fists and/or gunfire.

And housework DOES suck, nine times out of ten.

And the tenth time someone is lying.

When I first saw cleome's collage, I thought it was a board game of some sort . . . one that looks fun to play.

Well, they're fun to make, but bring tweezers... and aspirin.

The friend who owns it seems very happy with it.

You know, cleome, I should have mentioned earlier that I also really like those collages. I just read more into what I see when looking at something like that.

I also lead with my jaw at times...

Abin, that's cool. It's awesome to me if anyone sees my stuff and wants to talk about it all, especially here-- given that it's not really comics-related.

I remember seeing the word "collage" in a book when I was about six and trying to figure out how someone could make a "college" with paper and glue.

Sadly, I still have students who think they attend "collage."

In a weird way, they are.

One of the things I miss the most about college is how everyone was able to somehow at the same time (A) act like they were intellectual and into all sorts of topics, yet (B) act like they honestly didn't give a shit about anything at all. Talk about a breezy attitude!

College was great...I drank a lot, smoked a lot, started my first band. I think I went to some classes in there too.

I've been reconnecting with a lot of my college friends on Facebook. Oddly, a good number of the ones I've friended were not necessarily my close friends--more like the people I wished I could have hung with. Actually, it was the theatre crowd. I guess they were the more glamorous nerds or something.

College. Considering how seldom I was intoxicated back then, I really should remember more of it than I do.
