I wish I knew how to post pictures (without stealing bandwidth). The best I can do is post links to pictures.

And anyone at San Diego is welcome to post pictures of me, even really embarrassing ones.

We don't mind as long as they are tastefully done. Please remember that we at Legion World are all well bred young Ladies and Gentelmen and would be shocked at anything of a lewd or unseemly nature.

Excuse me while I wipe the tears of lauughter from my eyes.

OK, so I go to visit my dad on Sundays. And Dad's dog becomes my dog for the day. She will ignore my dad unless I am ignoring her. Then she pokes my dad to get him to get me to play with her.

She has also trained my dad to hold her rawhide chew treat for her while she eats it. (Dad does more to spoil this dog. His younger self would be appalled) So of course she expects me to hold it for her as well. And yes I do hold it for her. So a couple of Sundays ago, I was holding the rawhide chew treat while she was chewing on it. Then after a bit I let go of it when she got distracted by something else. A few minutes later, she came up, put the rawhide chew treat in my lap, put her nose under my hand, and then flipped my hand with her nose.

Another funny aspect of this whole thing is this. She was a stray picked up on the streets of Puerto Rico, so she can be very protective of her food. Despite the fact that my dad gives her the treat and will hold it for her while she eats it, if it is on the ground and dad walks near it, she hunches over protecting it from him.

That's not it - none of the dog lovers have been here lately. Must post pic of dog! Think of it as a learning experience.

Who picked her up in Puerto Rico?

It sounds very cute, Quis. She seems to have your dad well-trained. What kind of dog is she?

The only character in all of literature who has been described as "badnass" while using the phrase "vile miscreant."

I don't know who picked her up in Puerto Rico. Dad got her from a shelter in Massachusetts. She is a pure-bred mutt. She is a small dog, mostly black & white with some tan on her legs and face. The tan and the shape of her head makes me think there is some German Shepard in her, although she is smaller than a German Shepard.

As for pictures, I have one in my camera. Maybe one of the people in San Diego can show me how to post it.

So, what is everyone's plans for the Fourth of July? I assume our non-American Legion Worlders will be doing their usual Tuesday routine.

It is supposed to be hot here tomorrow. I may go to the movies to cool off. If I do watch the fireworks, I'll do so from home. I've been to the Esplanade a couple of times and seeing them in person is OK. Then when it is over, you have to fight the crowds on the subway.

Was it busy, Lardlad?

I just stayed in mostly. I had thought of going to the movies, but just procrastinated until it was too late. Around 8:30 some neighbors let off with some fireworks. It sounded like one would come in through the window.

Not really. I got there around 4 p.m. and soon was letting people go home early. There were some rushes before I got there, though, but very little afterward. Stinkin' grocery store only closes on Christmas Day and only closes early on Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve! mad

No, she's Dad's dog except when I visit him on Sundays. Then Dad says she is my dog. But believe me when I say that Dad would not let her go even if I wanted to bring her.

But I am getting real excited about San Diego and my train ride there. Ten more days before I leave for San Diego. This will be the longest ten days.

Just 5 more days before my cross country train trip. I am getting so excited. I am going to start packing and getting together some reading material.
