I recently learned that CH got a gig writing songs for Celine Dion, which adds fuel to my original theory that "Sunglasses At Night" was a harbinger of Satan's final ascendancy on Earth.

I did a post years ago about how Corey Hart sounded like he was gagging on a ping pong ball.

And you were immediately sued out of existence by the PingPong Anti-Defamation League.

What was the kids show where one of the catchphrases was "Ping Pong balls," and then it would always rain Ping Pong balls?

I believe it used to rain ping pong balls on Captain Kangaroo.

I only vaguely remember Capt Kangaroo.

The ping pong balls would drop on Captain Kangaroo's head when Mr. Moose told knock-knock jokes.

most of my Captain Kangaroo memories are from days I was home from school, sick. I think it came on after the school bus came.

Debbie Weems, who played Captain Kangaroo's friend "Debbie" in the 1970s, fell from a 16th-story window to her death in 1978. I remember her on the show as a child, but didn't know about her tragic death till a few years ago.

Don't think I remember her. too bad.

As a kid, I never really liked live-action children's shows that included a human host, along with puppets, "imaginary friends," etc. I always preferred animated shows.

I don't think I ever watched a full episode of Captain Kangaroo, and only watched Mister Rogers' Neighborhood for the trolley scenes. I also didn't really care for Sesame Street and only liked the Electric Company for the Bloodhound Gang episodes and the trippy musical interludes.

I didn't mind Mr. Rogers. Electric Company was okay, but got old.

There was another one I liked better: Vegetable Soup. It seemed more imaginative and less talking-down.

I pretty much liked them all. I never saw Vegetable Soup, though. I remember the title, but I guess I never watched it.

And of course there was Zoom!

I suddenly have the urge to put on a cheesy-looking horizontally striped shirt. Too bad I don't have one.

The gibberish language used in Zoom is called "Ubbi Dubbi".

Their animated short film about the cute talking veggies that threw themselves into a garbage disposal totally creeped me out when I was a little kid.

No wonder I never eat vegetables.

A few years ago a colleague of mine was asked about Veggie Tales. She responded "Oh, they're Christian vegetables." The absurdity of that statement has stayed with me.

hmmm...Christian vegetables... in the garden we bury them, they rise, we baptize them....

...then we confirm them and we don't see them again for ten years.

I was temped to make a Pat Robertson joke, but I'll I'll pass.

To call him either one would have been insulting to both Christians and vegetables.
