I first saw the term "familiar quotations" in the comic strip Peanuts.

"Peanuts" is probably the most common source of quotes in the "Quotes Without Context" thread. Fanfie and I both have left a goodly number. Other folks have, also.

Coincidentally, I was reading the 1977-1978 volume of The Complete Peanuts a little while ago. It includes the hilarious storyline where Peppermint Patty and Marcie become golf caddies.

Ah, yes. They were caddies for Mrs. Bartley and Mrs. Nelson. The two women always fought and Marcie was so fed up with it that she quit.

Who else totally wants to see Abin drawn Peanuts-style now? This thread can be his own version of the Red Baron...

In British gay slang of the 1960s, "eek" meant "face."

I learned something new today.
Also I'm hoping that my total lack of gaydar will not end up killing this thread.

The two people that I was surprized to find out were gay were Johhny Mathis and Raymond Burr.

Russ Heath, second only to Joe Kubert among the definitive Sgt. Rock artists, was also the production designer for the original "G.I. Joe" cartoon.

"Urban Legend" was a 1998 movie that cashed in on the supposedly "ironic" slasher-movie revival catalyzed by 1996's "Scream."

Edvard Munch's original version of The Scream was painted in 1893.

The closet door in one of the bedrooms of a house I used to live in had a version of The Scream painted on it.

I liked the car commercial of a few years ago based on an animated version of The Scream.
The childhood friend Exnihil never had.

The bedroom in a house I lived in almost 20 years ago opened with a skeleton key. I moved out in 1994, but I still have the key.

I moved out of my parents' house in 1994 when I went to college.
They also moved out of that house that year, when they retired.
