Kinetix uses her TK to cleanse herself of the beer, but she can't quite remove all the smell. Angrily, she stands up. She already hates being on Rimbor - it doesn't seem to have the dignified culture or the ancient treasures that other UP planets have.

"I would apologize, if I were you. You wouldn't like what I do to trolls."

At which point the other one "Flamer" ...

Begins attacking the LMB members with verbal insult after verbal insult ... some of them don't even make sense ... but that dosn't slow the fiery tirade of vulgar insults.

"Where the bloody grife is the bouncer?" Power Boy asks. The depressed patrons simply stare into the own cups, trying to ignore the boiling fight.

Flamer continues to rant, insulting each LMBPer with insult after insult, so passionately spit and flames fly out of his mouth. He is getting hotter and hotter. Power Boy attempts to reason but can not get a word in edgewise.

Power Boy thinks some of this language is not appropriate for the younger members like Emily Sivana to be hearing ... at which point.

"HI YAHHH!" Peebs karate chops Flamer in the throat ... ending the tired and dropping Flamer to his knees clutching his throat.

"Grife. What did I just do?" Power Boy asks out loud. "I was trying to keep a low profile ... now ...there's going to be a scene.

Troll begins to grow massively and lunges for the 5 Legion Worlders.

Flamer recovers from the karate chop to the throat, he is gasping and clutching his throat but he manifest an even more fiery display of vitriol

Kinetix rolls her eyes. "This is tiresome, and you're not even as entertaining as watching pigeon poop dry."

With a wave of her hand, she splashes some dirty water on Flamer. "No alcohol there to fan your flames. Now, someone want to take care of Troll here? I'd call him names, but I think this one fits him perfectly."

"Gladly" Power Boy says as he winds up for a huge punch ...

when ... "Is he multiplying? Where are they all coming from?"















Power Boy's voice is buried under the weight of these ridiculous trolls.

Kinetix turns to look at Power Boy in horror. As she moves to aid him, behind her, Flamer starts to simmer.

"I generate fire, yes, but I also control HEAT little girl. And you know what heat can do to liquid?" In seconds, he is completely dry and holding his arms forward as if to blast something.

Kinetix throws up a shield barely in time.

Emily braced under the impact of the fire on the shield. While Kinetixs' shield had protected the group, the fire continued to grow. Emily had to think of something fast.

She said, "There is alcohol everywhere in this place. If we don't do something fast this place can explode! Kinetix, could you drop the shield quickly enough for me to use a trick arrow?"

Sweat beaded on Kinetix's face. "Okay, but only the point where you plan to fire. Where is it, quick?"

Emily pointed at a spot a little bit above their heads. Kinetix quickly made a small hole in her field.

"Go, Emily!"

Emily took out a tear-gas arrow and fired it at a spot near the ceiling. A good amount of the bars patrons had already left in fear of being burnt, so this area was clear of bystanders. The villains winced and began to back down. The LMBers turned to Power Boy, as if anticipating further orders.

Power Boy pushed the Trolls off of him. The Trolls were gagging and crying from the tear gas. Power Boy was lucky his respiratory system was as invulnerable as the rest of him.

A wide arc of energy vision came from his eyes, pushing back the Trolls. Trolls being a cowardly lot, they scattered and ran ... Flamer tried to slink away.

The building was already on fire. But it would survive structurally.

"So much for keeping a low profile. Kinetix ... please see about the fire and smoke."

"Lolita it looks like you were right, this is a criminal hotbed."

Power Boy held up a Troll by the neck while placing his boot on the back of Flamer. All fight was out of these two. They knew when they were outmatched and neither had any stomach when confronted face to face.

"Angdar, would you like to interrogate one of these two?"

the Troll and Flamer both looked terrified as the grim Thanagarian walked towards them.

Kinetix turned and smiled at Emily, partly to avoid looking at Angdar. "Nice shooting, Red Arrow! Couldn't have held Flamer at bay for long."

With a wave, she began using her field to smother the fires. The smoke would take longer to clear out, but she had time... what little time there was before the villains would crack under Angdar's questioning.

It didn't take long for Angdar to get a few choice pieces of information from Flamer and Troll ...

something about a Middlefinger being a boss.

... and the location of his base of operations.

Power Boy addressed his four friends ...

"A new Middlefinger crime boss, with anti-matter technology and possibly an army of super powered goons? YES!!! Must be Friday! This is what I've been missing!"


"I've got a plan to get us in there ... something I learned from the Trojans ... and then we'll break this case wide open!"

"Sounds good. The sooner we get to the bottom of this, the better."

Angdar glanced over at Kinetix and shook his head. He knew he had to come clean soon, but he worried at how she would react.

Emily wondered how these two had this information. Since she was a newer member, she didn't know who the Middlefingers were. She made a mental note to contact the folks on Legion World about this case. She wondered where they were headed next. Before they left, she bought some vodka and whiskey to add to her supplies.

As they traveled back to the warehouse that Lolita had set up for them to operate out of, Angdar fell back and waited for Kinetix to notice.

She glanced back and went to turn her eyes forward, but something about the way he looked told her that he wanted to talk.

Once she fell back with him, he smiled a little, and cleared his throat.

"Please don't be mad at IB and Blaze," he said. "It was my idea."

"What was?"

"Okay. You and I were just really getting to know each other, and there's something I should have told you up front."

"What>"

"The fact is, I'm as attracted to you as I am to Blaze."

The Warehouse


Once at the warehouse. Power Boy and Lolita gathered the Quintet.

Angdar and Kinetix's conversation was interrupted.


"Here's where we are. Lolita has briefed me on this Middlefinger. Apparently, the Middlefinger name is a title of organized crime leadership ... The title is usually assumed by killing the previous Middlefinger.

Each of them have come into conflict with the LMBP. A new Middlefinger can not be tolerated. Especially since he or she seem to be involved in illegal genetic experimentation to provide super powers, a form of indentured servitude, and even ... anti-matter weaponry.

The Middlefinger's powers have varied. Until recently there was a new Middlefinger for every year of the Legion of Message Board Posters history. It is unclear whether this is intentional.


At least three Middlefinger's remain alive, bucking the trend of regicide.

Middlefinger VII - Skulivard Nox, an insane Coluan in a mental hospital

Middlefinger VIII - A mysterious and troublesome female.

and

Middlefinger IX - a microscopic alien imprisoned in the LMB Trophy Room.

Lolita has confirmed that Middlefinger's VII and IX are still imprisoned. VIII is missing.

However, we could be facing even more Middlefinger's if they have continued the trend of a new Middlefiinger with each successive year of the LMBP.

We must assume for the worst and plan to face Middlefinger X, XII, and XIII as we are in the 13th year of the LMBP."

Power Boy let the information sink in for a moment.

"Right. We are clearly going to need help. I am changing this mission from seek and destroy ... to an information gathering mission.

We've got to find out how the Middlefingers fit into all of this ... once we find out what their role is, where they are, and how extensively they have integrated into the political networks of the United planets ... Then we will bring the whole LMBP back to break the Middlefinger's off!!!"


Power Boy waved to the space-pirate ship they captured.

"We believe most crime on Rimbor is connected back to Middlefinger, we can use this ship and the coordinates we received from the space-pirates to infiltrate the gangs of Rimbor, learn what we can, and then we will get out."

Power Boy grinned ... Zoe and Angdar would like this ...

"We'll need new outfits, some costumes that make us look like criminals and villains."

"Gather what you need and change ... and we will depart in the middle of the night for that space-pirate camp."

Kinetix hung back to talk to Angdar. She knew they'd need to do a lot of prep work, including costumes and research. But she didn't think she could focus, what with the bombshell that Angdar had just dropped on them.

She caught his eye and waited for him to approach. He smiled a little. She could tell he wasn't exactly feeling guilty. But did she have a right to expect him to be?

"Ang, I don't have anything to say about you being bisexual. Heck, with many of the LMB guys being gay it is so not a problem. What I can't wrap my head around is that you seduced both Blaze and IB, who are in a relationship! And from what I gathered, both of them were involved. So... what the heck happened? Are you attracted to both of them? How many times did this happen? Are you still going to be looking for more? I can't wrap my head around this yet!"

Emily was not quite sure how to react to the new orders at first. She followed Zoe, who apparently was prepared for this type of circumstance. She examined the costume that Zoe had given her, which was a primarily white costume with green and purple trim. The chest area gleamed,

"What do you think?" Zoe whispered.

Emily replied, "It is pretty nice. You know, when this is all over, I should recommend you to my family. We really need to repair the meeting room."

Zoe agreed, "Sure. How do you feel about the mission?"

"I don't feel very nervous yet...it will kind of be like attending a family party. I act as expected and everything will go fine," Emily replied. And if worse comes to worse, I simply reveal my true identity and lay the cards down. The Sivana Family name should mean something here, if it truly is a planet of criminals.

Kinetix waved goodbye to Emily, who was beginning to become a fast friend. She has a great sense of style... If her relatives are anything like her, would be fun to meet them.

She heads off to her own room to begin working. She'd already helped Lolita fix up HER own costume; Lolita had plenty of good taste and just needed Zoe to make the work go faster.

She walks quickly down the hall. She still doesn't want to see Angdar just yet. She's not really mad, just confused. She does't really have a right to be; the incident with IB and Blaze happened way before they'd become serious. She shouldn't be shocked either; she always knew the two boyfriends were a frisky pair. And Angdar was a young man in his prime. So why did it bother her so? Was she beginning to really fall in love with Angdar?

She kept walking, digesting this thought. She couldn't get it out of her head right now.

Power Boy put on his costume provided by Zoe's power ... it was tight ... Power Boy didn't have a super power to help him get into it ...

Finally once it was on, it was all black and shiny like leather, with a huge circle cut out of the chest showing his ample chest. The shirt ended at his shoulders leaving his arms bare. He put on some bracelets and arm bands that accentuated his muscular arms ...

He guessed Zoe wanted him to look as muscular and imposing as possible. The dark outfit reminded him of something he wuld wear on Apokolips.

Infiltrating criminal gangs, pretending to be bad ....

"This was going to be fun."

The final touch.

Power Boy held out his hand and his mega rod appeared. It was over a foot long and 1/2 inch thick ... it grew to 3'.

Power Boy strapped it to his back.

it never hurt to visibly carry a big stick.

Angdar got into the outfit that Zoe had prepared for him. It also required a small image inducer to finish the look. He looked at himself in the mirror and smiled...




"Alright then. I think that does it."

Power Boy turned around ....


"OH SPROCK!!" Angdar was standing there in his undercover costume.

Power Boy was a bit embarrassed to be startled but ... Angdar really did look ghastly. "Don't creep up on me like that!"

"by the Hoary Hosts of MLLash ... Angdar ... I think you dressed up a bit too well ... we don't want to scare them all off."

Angdar laughed. "Sorry, I'll tone down the wings a bit. Honestly wanted to see if you could be shocked."

Angdar grabbed the image inducer and fiddled with it. As he did, his wings appeared to be more their normal look. He also took the helmet off. "Not a huge fan of these...would have been the one not so good thing about the Wingmen."

Ventura

SharkLad made his way through the casino floor of Zaryan's Palace: Grand Hotel and Casino. It reeked of cheap perfume and booze. Usually, his seven foot frame, rows of razor-sharp teeth, and talon-like claws would get him more than his share of funny looks, but it didn't seem like anyone was paying him too much attention. The patrons were too busy losing their money.

Somewhere in this crowd could be his target, Gruertis Nyebif. Reconnaissance didn't come easy to SharkLad -- he was more of a smash and dash kinda guy. But being with Lolita had taught him a little bit about the art of subtlety. He walked up to an waitress and flashed his best smile.

"Scuse me, miss, but..."

Before SharkLad could finish his sentence, the waitress let out a scream loud enough to rattle some of the nearby slot machines.

"Whoa, whoa. Take it easy."

But the waitress continued to scream.

"So much for subtlety."

Two goons in dark suits suddenly appeared at SharkLad's side.

"Is there a problem here, sir?" asked the bigger of the two goons.

"We got no problem," SharkLad growled. "I was just asking for a drink and she started screaming her head off."

"Perhaps you should come with us, sir," said the smaller of the two goons.

"And where would you be taking me exactly?"

"Just come with us, sir."

A crowd was starting to form around them. If Gruertis Nyebif
was on the floor somewhere, he was certain to hightail it out of there if he caught wind of SharkLad's presence.

"Sprock this!"

SharkLad opened his mouth and let loose a barrage of projectile teeth, pinning the two goons to the ground. Before he could make another move, a security team appeared and surrounded him.

"So, we gotta do this the hard way, huh?"

Seconds later, the security team was scattered around the casino in various states of injury.

"Please, please! There's no need for this," came a voice behind SharkLad.

SharkLad turned around and came face to face with Gruertis Nyebif.
