Kinetix popped her head out the door. She'd already read up on the space-pirates, and was satisfied with the costume she'd chosen and the disguise she'd put on.

Where was everybody?

Emily walked in almost entirely unnoticed by the other people there, except one of the pirates sitting at one of the tables. One of the older pirates leaned to one of his mates and appeared to be whispering something in his ear.I hope these "gentlemen" won't be causing any problems.

The other pirate walked up to her. Oh no, please, tell me this is a dream She managed to ask, "Can I help you with something?"

"Oh, my boss thinks you look familiar. Have you been around here before?" He asked.

She lied, "Yes, multiple times. My name is Ellen...Ellen Adam." He smiled at her because he had the feeling this was a lie, but he decided it would be interesting to have a conversation with her.

Criminal gang HQ

Having successfully flown the captured pirate space ship into the compound of the criminal gang ... things were going well so far.

Power Boy walked up to a makeshift counter selling alcohol. A woman with red skin and horns looked him up and down from behind the counter.

"What can I kill you with." The red horned woman said with dead pan humor.

Power Boy responded leaning on the bar.

"Gasoline. 20th century vintage."

The horned woman raised an eyebrow. "87 or 91 octane."

Power Boy laughed as if offended. "Premium."

The devilish looking woman fished around under the bar and produced a jug of black foul smelling liquid. She poured the oily substance into a tin mug.

Power Boy nodded and took a sip " mmmm just like Apokolips"

"Apokolips ...? " the bartender asked.

"Yeah I was raised there. Fun place."

The red bartender said " hey partner ... what's your name."

Power Boy replied with the only names he'd ever known. A seldom used alias "JOE, Joe Power."

The demon looking bartender flapped bat like wings for the first time as she giggle. "Well Joe Joe ... I can tell when people lie ... what's your reallll name."

Power Boy took a sip of gasoline. "Orion."


The demon woman licked her lips "Hmmmm that does sound more like it."

Power Boy asked ..." so fair bartender ... what is a boy from Apokolips to do for fun around here?"


A red tail from behind the bartender poured Power Boy a bit more gasoline. "Oh Lots." She said with a devilish grin in her yellow eyes.


Power Boy and the red demon looking bartender spent the next many moments huddled in flirtatious conversation.

Kinetix reminded herself to act as roughly as possible as she walked into the bar. She'd finally settled on a green-and-white look, but used a dark green to avoid standing out too much. SHe also kept as much of her hair hidden under a scarf.

She knew Lolita and Emily especially had approved of her toning down her fashionista side to aid the charade.

She sat down at a table in a corner of the bar and ordered a drink, slumping against her chair. She hoped to appear drunk so nobody would approach her. Now, she felt, was the time to just wait and watch...

The man said, "What brings you here to Rimbor?"

"I have been sent here to buy some antiques at a decent price," Emily lied. Once she began lying, they simply rolled off her tongue. The man seemed content with the answer.

The man laughed, "Whoever your employer is has a lot of sense to send a pretty woman like you, nobody would suspect a thing. We have some...unique items for sale. Would you like to take a look?" Emily nodded and the two of them went back to his table where they were greeted by the other pirates. The older pirate thought, She looks so familiar... The merchandise was a strange assortment of the mundane and the exceptional. There was old merchandise, a few jewels, and what appeared to be a rod in the collection. Emily wished to get a closer look at it, but the pirate whispered, "If you are truly who you say you are, I would not take that back to him."

Emily scoffed, "These appear to me mere trifles. Show me something better or I walk." The pirates smiled at each other, and the older pirate signalled to the younger pirate to get a crate from the back. A few minutes later, he returned with a cage. The woman could not believe what she was seeing.

Rocket Racoon?! Emily thought.

Power Boy kept chatting with the bar tender, the others would have to fend for themselves. He felt like he was making real progress with this literally devilish woman.

"So ... where's the real stuff ... " Power Boy asked in a quiet voice as he sipped his motor oil.

the red skinned woman winked her eye and swished her tail for Power Boy to follow her and went around the end of the bar and disappeared through a small door.

Peebs gulped his motor oil and slammed it down on the table and followed the swishing tail into the back.

Kinetix tried very hard to maintain her calm and act drunk, but she couldn't help tensing. Both Emily and Power Boy were going off into potentially dangerous situations... What should she do?

And where were Lolita and Angdar?

Power Boy walked to the back ... huge golden double doors symbolized a important room and people on the other side.

He made a gesture with his hand, signaling the other members of the LMB. He hoped they would notice.

Something else else was giving him fuzzy sensations through his telepathy. Most criminal establishments and casinos had telepath blocking security. He could probably push past it but didn't want to trip any alarms.


The red devil woman pushed open the enormous golden doors that slid easy. She motioned for him to go through before her.

Too late he noticed the symbol on the door knob.

A big fat middle ... finger.

Emily was divided in her head as to what to do next. Her instinct was to free Rocket Racoon, but she knew that would blow their cover. She knew that if would not be hero if she did nothing. She decided to keep up the act.

Emily asked, "How do I know it is really Rocket Racoon? You know he's a legendary figure."

The pirate said, "A decent question," he kicked the cage, "Speak!"

"You--are mental woman," The creature spat out.

"That is enough. He will be a great amusement to my master. What is the bidding price?" She asked.

"10,000 units of soma or an offer equal to that amount," The pirate cooly replied. Emily knew she had to think rather fast in order to free Rocket Racoon.

She asked, "Will 5,000 credits be enough?" That corner of the room erupted into laughter. They brushed aside the offer as a joke, because credits are pretty useless in their line of business. It would have to be something tangable...something she currently posessed.

"How about ten vials of Suspendium?" Emily replied. She had brought them for use on her arrows. In the words of her uncle, Suspendium can stop the effects of the universe around the individual. A tiny dossage can preserve things for days, a large dossage can place a human in suspended animation for over twenty years (and not age a day). After examing the vials closely, the pirates agreed to a trade. They slowly opened the cage. To Emily's surprise the racoon immediately reached for the ray gun attached to one of the pirates belts and took it for himself.

"I have a shrink ray! Come with me or else!" Emily shouted at Rocket Raccoon.

He asked, "Why should I? You are obviously one of them!"

"I don't have time for this!" She tried to think of something that prove that she was on the side of good. She turned her LMB ring off invisibility and flashed it to the racoon, who understood. "Ellen" apologized for the scene and promised to advise her friends to stop by.

She wondered what had happened to Lolita and Angdar, while Rocket Raccoon was beginning to think she was acutally crazy and maybe he should stick around until they leave the casino. He had visited the planet for a night of fun with his friends when a bunch of thugs attacked them on the way to the spacedock. After they were done here, he would tell them he is alright and continue his journey. He had been invited to guest-lecture at a handful of military schools.

The doors clicked locked behind him and several people came into view.

There was a dais at the other end of the room as if for a royalty to receive supplicants.

"Mistress. I bring you ... Jo Jo Power, Real name Orion, Lord of the Legion of Message Board Posters."




'Crap on a stick.' Power Boy thought. 'This red devil of a woman could obviously sense deception. I was probably made from the moment I stepped in the bar.'


The red devil woman's tail wrapped around Peebs' throat with a "SWISH!"

He was trapped.


Three new woman and one delicious looking yet very scantily clad male turned to greet the captive Power Boy.

The largest one spoke.




"He looks scrawny to me ... I thought the leader of the LMBP would be ... larger somehow."

Power Boy thought she was Apokolyptian if she was anything. Large and strong with two mega swords.


One young woman at a computer console looked over her shoulder ... she sighed as if uninterested.


She was clearly the scientist of the group, the one responsible for their anti-matter technology, and the meta-human experiments.




The well muscled and tanned male was a bit out of place. He appeared to be here for eye candy. And then Power Boy smelt it ... it made him sick ... Anti-Matter. This hunk reeked of Anti-Matter. He was either the source of the anti-matter technology ... or that young woman had experimented on him to give him control over the highly deadly and illegal use of Anti-Matter. Power Boy didn't know if he could absorb such energy or if it could hurt him but just being in the same room with it made him itch. So he suspected ... he would be hurt very much.


The body spoke "I don't know. He looks just the right size to me. I say we keep him around."

Finally, this "mistress" stepped out of the dark.

Power Boy finally figured out how she was concealed from view. Dark Matter. She must control the dark energy of the universe somehow. Anti-Matter was one thing, highly volitile and in opposition to real matter, but ... DARK MATTER ... held everything together. If these fools were toying with this ... they had to be put down.


"Silence. All of you." The mistress of the dark spoke.

"Pinky you shall not have him." She address the golden muscular man. "Thank you for bringing him to us Ring" The woman continued.

The red devil woman bowed even as she held Power Boy's throat with her sharp tail.

"What do you think index, shall we keep him." She addressed the young scientific woman behind her. The woman in the helmet shrugged ... and shook her head 'no'.

The large Apokolyptian woman grinned and raised her swords ...

"Now Now thumb."


"I am the Middle Finger and I go first. Die Lord of the LMB. "

Power Boy punched the red devil woman "ring" in the face hard. She recoiled and loosed her grip on his neck.

Just in time for Peebs to do a back flip ... narrowly avoiding the blast of dark matter energy.

it struck the golden doors to the room with a KATHOOM!!! shattering them.

"sweet" Power Boy said. The others should be along any minute.

he hoped.


The large brutish woman from Apokolpis came forward swords swinging. Power Boy hit her hard with a Telekinetic force bolt! She went flying into the Anti-Matter Man "Pinky".

He had to keep them off balance.

The Dark Matter mistress spoke "We are the fist. I am the Lady with the Middle Finger. Ruler of all crime on Rimbor! The LMB will NOT interfere!!!!"

Power Boy retorted ... "why stop at five ..." with a sarcastic huff.

He dropped kicked the strong woman from Apokolips as she tried to rise. "There are ten fingers." He said with a laugh.


The Middle Finger was livid. "YOU JEST!!!!!"


"DIE !!!! AS THE BIRD FLIPS!!!"


Peebs didn't really know what that meant but ... he knew to dodge.

Power Boy was in it now. This level of being knee deep was unacceptable.


This red devil woman was surprisingly agile. He flipped, she flipped, he kicked, she side stepped, she clawed, he dodged.

Meanwhile, the large woman was getting on her feet. So far the techy had not interfered, preoccupied with her computer, and "Pinky" the Anti-Matter hottie was still out cold from being knocked down.


... But the three fingers in the game were keeping him busy.

the Dark Matter "Middle Finger" was shouting ... "WE HAD TRY OUTS FOR DOZENS .... HUNDREDS OF OTHER FINGERS .... THERE WERE ONLY FIVE OF ANY CONSEQUENCE ... WE ARE THE FIST!!!! THAT SHALL BREAK THE LMBP AND RULE THE UNIVERSE!!!!"

she was mad, crazy, Power Boy thought as his energy vision sliced down the jumping red devil woman with a "ZAPF!!"

He narrowly avoided another dark matter blast.

The Dark Matter blasts felt strange ... as if they pushed through the air to try and reach Power Boy. They seemed almost tangible.

He whipped his mega rod from his back.

'Where the hell were the others?!'

The woman from Apokolips said in fearful tones "You .... wield ... a Mega-Rod?" Her face paled. She took a few steps back, lowering her swords.

Power Boy said flatly. "YEAH. Where have you been."

He raised it and fired a powerful bolt ... SHAZAM!!! ...

blasting "Thumb" across the room. She wouldn't be getting up soon, even as strong as she was. Her swords clanged on the floor as they dropped from her hands.






The small woman with the helmet finally looked up from her computer console from across the room.

"A Mega-Rod ..." she whispered. "Mistress, we must have that." she said to Middle Finger.

Power Boy said seriously: "Good luck. The Mega-Rod requires a firm hand, lest you be corrupted and drained of life." Power Boy said seriously.

Then he cocked his head. 'These fools actually like to play with the dangerous ... Dark Matter, Anti-Matter, human experiments ...' He thought.


The Middle Finger raised her hands .... dark matter energy whipping through the air for Power Boy's mega rod.

He resisted, as she pulled on it. It was a tug of war with his most deadly and precious possession.


He cast his telepathy out 'Help. Help Wanted!'

Power Boy thought of a mean trick ... he let his Mega-Rod fly intentionally ... as Middle Finger used her strange Dark Matter Telekinesis to pull on the rod with all her might ... it was a child's trick on Apokolips.

"SPROING !" It flew with surprising speed towards the Middle Finger ... zipping at her with a ... CRACK!!! as it struck her across the head unexpectedly.

The latest Middle Finger went down a gash across her face as the rod flew back to Power Boy's hand via telekinesis. The stalemate was ended. Now he could see her power actually came from technological devices around her wrists, bracelets that controlled the Dark Matter of the universe. He would have to confiscate those.

He surveyed the scene ... the brains of the bunch, the "Index" finger got up from her seat ... Power Boy had a feeling she would be a problem. Pinky the Anti-Matter meta human was stirring and the red devil woman, "Ring finger" was still up ... a bit of blood on her chin though. Power Boy should have hit her harder.

It would be nice to have help but the others must be preoccupied. He was on his own.

He blurred to confront "Pinky" before he was blasted by Anti-Matter. Peebs' gripped both his wrists, keeping him from blasting him. But he was also strong. Stronger than a human.

In the back of his head he felt the red devil woman fishing around, it was a buzzing, she was a telepath as well as a lie detector. Not a very good telepath but ... it was distracting.

He had to finish this. He kicked Pinky hard in the shin "KRACK!!" Pinky dropped to the floor clutching his shin. Power Boy took the opportunity to grab him ... pick him up and throw him hard across the room towards Index ... the small girl with the helmet sidestepped and Pinky went crashing into her computers with KRAKOW !!!

'That should set them back' Peebs thought 'Two more'.

He rounded on the red devil woman when ... Index flicked her wrist and a small metallic ball came flying across the room.

It rolled to a stop in front of Power Boy ... "clicked" open and .... with a whine ... emitted a hypersonic wail ...




EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

The red devil woman dropped like a sack of potatoes.

Power Boy clutched his ears and went down on one knee.

Index's helmet obviously protected her, she smiled with a sarcastic way as Peebs struggled.


It was going dark for Peebs.

'Damn super hearing.'He thought, nauseous, as the index finger approached.





A sharp blade had extended from her gauntlet.

"Oh no you don't!" Kinetix shouted as she blasted Index hard. The woman went flying across the wall. Kinetix wrapped part of the wall around her for good measure.

Minutes later, the other members of the Fist were bound tight as well.

She helped Power Boy up. "You really should be more careful when you infiltrate enemy organizations, you know."

"Har har. Took you long enough. And where the heck are the others?"

Kinetix shrugged. "I don't know. I saw Emily disappear down another corridor, but have no idea where Angdar and Lolita are. I surreptitiously signaled them, but it's not like I had time to wait for their replies."

Power Boy shot her a look, then groaned as he held his side. "Those bad guys pack a punch. I just wish we had more time to figure out their operations. As it is, we've probably attracted too much attention already. We've got to get out of here. But first..."

He asked Zoe to guide him as he bent over the new Middle Finger, and took her Dark Matter devices. Then he collected tech from the others. He finally paused over the prone body of Pinky. "Such a shame, this one. Kid Gravity would agree with me that he's totally hot."

"Hmph. Why go around gawking at the bad guys, when you have plenty of LMBers to choose from? Like IB and Blaze and Angdar," Kinetix said with quite a bit of venom.

Power Boy sensed that any comment he'd make could and would be taken the wrong way. "Uh... Hey, let's collect the others and get out of here."

As they neared the doors, they burst open. Kinetix and Power Boy stared in shock as dozens of pirates stared back at them.

Very angry pirates.

Power Boy and Kinetix fended off the pirates. Lasers fired everywhere. Power Boy hurled a large pirate at an onrushing group. They went down like bowling pins.

"You lot are seriously OUTNUMBERED." He roared with a wide smile.

Kinetix transmuted weapons to dust. She eye'd Power Boy. He really enjoyed these moments.


Behind them Index finger produced a laser and cut herself out of her bonds. The others were out cold. She turned and touched a panel on the wall ... a secret door slid open.


"whirrr"

The secret door revealed.

LOLITA

"Not so fast." She said as she raised her stun gun.
Index finger was brought up short.


Just then ... the entire room shook ....

"Earthquake? Here? " Kinetix asked incredulously.



CCCRRRAAAAAAAAAASSSHHHHH!!!!


"MIDDLE FINGER IS HERE!!!! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!"

A young, obviously mad woman, floated in on a chair, pink bubble wrap flying in the air above her.

Index finger looked over her shoulder through her googles, a curse on her breath.

She through down a pellet that burst into smoke, and Lolita lost her for a second in the smoke. It would only take a moment for Lolita's brilliant mind to compensate and find the crook. Lolita dropped to a crouch to avoid attack.

Lolita scanned the smoke ... "gone?" She turned behind her to the open secret door, no Index finger running away ... "Another secret door somewhere? Secret hatch in the floor? Blast!" She absolutely hated being out maneuvered. She made a mental note to pay back that one someday.

Across the room she saw pink bubble wrap stream through the air ... to the felled previous Middle Finger, the Dark Matter caster ... now helpless bereft of her bracelets. She was smothered in pink bubble wrap. Lolita heard the crunching of bones.

"Dead" Lolita knew as it happened.



A ball of pink bubble wrap flew at Lolita's head. Lolita dodged it easily but was disturbed by the scene. Lolita returned fire, hitting the new Middle Finger's chair.

"That worthless pretender!!! There can be only one!" Middle Finger replied "And Kole is the one true Middle Finger!!!!"

A huge wave of pink bubble wrap felled space-pirate after space-pirate. Power Boy flipped out of the oncoming wave.

The mad Kole cocked her head at Power Boy ... "TIME TO GO. BUT YOU WILL SEE ME AGAIN ... OH YES ... THE LMB SHALL SEE VERY MUCH OF ME! HAHAHAHAHA"

Pink bubble wrap slithered across the floor gathering up Pinky, Ring, and Thumb. The hover chair that Kole sat on carried them all away with surprising speed out of the gaping hole in the wall.


Lolita and Power Boy stood side by side. astonished.


Kinetix walked up to them "Did we really just get punked by a woman spinning pink bubble wrap?"

"Yeah...and you should see the ones that didn't make it here." Angdar Fel said as he walked slowly towards them.

He was bloodied, and it was obvious by the way he was moving that some of the blood was indeed his. His left eye was swollen shut, and his right arm held his mace, but was hanging seemingly lifeless at his side.

Kinetix ran over to him, "are you alright? You need to sit..."

He shook his head. "No. I'll be alright. Really...you should see the other guys." He said with a low chuckle.

Power Boy looked past Angdar and saw a dog that had entered with Angdar standing back a ways. It too was bloodied and panting. "A friend of yours?" He asked and mootioned his head to the dog.

Angdar smiled and turned his head a little. "He saved my life. Says he knows Cobalt Kid."

Emily looked at him with a questioning look, "the dog told you that?"

"Yes I did," the dog said as he morphed into his human form. "The name is Beast Boy."

"From Lallor," Lolita said. "I heard you were dead."

"Yeah...that serves me well. Cobalt told me you guys were headed here, and asked if I could check in on you. I've been here for a little over a year gathering information. People will always talk to a dog...weird, but there it is."

Angdar put his left arm around Kinetix, and whispered to her, "I think I do need to sit."

Power Boy walked up to Beast Boy. "Thank you for the assist for our friend. You do not mind if I check with Cobalt about your story do you?"

"Not at all."

Lolita walked over and joined them. "No need. Cobalt has already responded that Ilshu Nor is indeed who he says he is. He's also coming with us."

Beast Boy looked at her questioningly but then shrugged. "Sounds like fun."

Kinetix helped Angdar steady himself, then telekinetically patched up his wounds with bandages.

"Thanks. That'll hold them until the Nth metal can kick in."

Kinetix nodded. "Glad you're okay then. Now I'm gonna go help clean up."

"I was hoping you'd sit beside me."

Kinetix smiled. "We have work to do, and you did say you didn't really need to sit."

Angdar cocked his head. "You didn't snap at me at all. Does this mean...?"

"I was never really mad at you, but it still doesn't mean we don't have to talk later on. Now keep on sitting, because if your wounds break open again I am NOT going to patch you up."

With a smile, Kinetix walked away.

Power Boy gathered the team. stepping over pink bubble wrap.



"It's time, time to go back to Legionworld. We've gathered enough information and evidence to disable the current illegal weapons trade and have disrupted their meta-human experiments. You all should be proud. We kicked a mighty criminal network in the teeth!"

"The fist of the Middle-Finger may have got away but we've got all these pirate thugs off the streets. Many of them will need medical treatment to reverse the meta-human experimentation. Most of them are refugees from the Dark Oval war merely looking for a way to get ahead on the mean streets of Rimbor. I'll take them to Legionworld and we will redistribute them to shelters or their home planets."


"It will take time for this new Middle Finger, Kole, to appear again, she needs time to regroup but, there are always cockroaches waiting to fill in the cracks of a crime power vacuum."


Lolita tossed Power Boy an omnicom, full of intelligence she had gathered while they were on Rimbor.

Power Boy walked up the ramp to the large legion cruiser, space-pirates already secured in a loading dock onboard.

This excursion was nice, he felt they had been productive but he wanted to get back to Legionworld. He had a lot to do.

And now they've got one more member! Beast Boy would be a great addition. After so many dead in the war of the Oval and the galaxy in chaos ... they needed as much help as they could get.

Paladin's academy would be fundamental. He had to make sure he had everything he needed. So many young heroes had risen up during the war. They would need guidance, steered to the Legion and not other less savory occupations. It was easy to go astray in the galaxy right now. Cobalt Kid working with the Up woudl help them knit the planets back together, physical through the repair of stargates but also through trade agreements. The Legion had to be a beacon. of hope and strength.

He wondered if that is why they voted him for leader, a warrior of several centuries not a diplomat, for his strength.

Well, disrupting a criminal network, putting a Middle Finger on the run, and gaining a new member would have to do for a great start to putting the galaxy back together.

And he got to test out some of the newer members, get them started on working as a team. He smiled at Kinetix and Angdar as they flirted off to the side, he smiled to Lolita, so strong and sure of herself now, and to Red Arrow, she would be a valuable new resource, a hero in crime fighting in her own right.

He patted Beast Boy on the shoulder "Welcome back."

Beast Boy smiled. "Thanks. I've been undercover here for a while, it will be nice to be back among friendlier faces. Cobie speaks highly of his friends in the LMB. I had some team-mates on Lallor for a while. We had a little bit of a falling out and then I died...sort of. Cobalt Kid found me wandering around in a fog and saved my life really. I have been helping him out ever since. That was years ago now. he said that I should take a break and get into the game of playing hero for a while again. Glad to be joining you."

Power Boy nodded. Let's go," he said and they boarded the ship and headed for Legion World.

Six tired but happy LMBers smiled as they watched Rimbor fade off in the distance.

"So, Power Boy, I did get more pirates than you, since I took down 33 while we were separated." Angdar grinned as he rubbed his side.

Power Boy smiled as he shook his head. "No, if we include the pirates we beat up en route to the warehouse, then I have 278 to your 247. I still win."

Beast Boy grinned. "If we stick ONLY to that last spot, where I was actually there, then I beat both of you. I took down 42 while waiting for you both."

Kinetix leaned forward with a smile. "Here are some more important stats for you boys. While on Rimbor, we distributed 150,000 tons of relief goods..."

"...donated by 28 UP worlds..." Lolita added.

"...and feeding 57.45% of the population on Rimbor for a week," Emily counted.

"We also set in motion a deal with the UP to revitalize Rimbor's agricultural land. What little of it there is, anyway, as arable land is only about 18% of Rimbor's land mass," Kinetix continued.

"But successfully utilizing 100% of what land there is will allow Rimbor to reduce its reliance on imports by 27%," Emily cited.

"Which will allow a 4% increase in the budget for education, and 5% in healthcare," Lolita finished.

The three girls smiled in satisfaction at the amused look on Beast Boy's face, and the stunned looks on Power Boy's and Angdar's.

"Told you they'd forgotten all about it," Kinetix whispered to her new friends.
